UGH! We were not paying enough attention when we bought and the sofa in the bunkhouse area in our new sunset trail 320BH has a jackknife sofa not a hide-a-bed sofa.
My kids are little and I can probably add lots off padding right now but I am mad at myself and disappointed I did not catch this.
So I have 2 questions:
1) do any of you do awesome things to this type of bed to make it more comfortable and "sleepable"?
2) have any of you purchased an rv hide-a-bed and had it swapped out or done it yourself? Should we look in to this or leave it alone because it'd cause more harm than good?
Although I have not done it, some on this forum have swapped out their rv sofa for a Lazy boy sleeper sofa. Not a cheap proposition, but a sofa that is much more comfortable then the stock rv sofa. Some of the rv sleeper sofas are just plain junk. (like mine) They wouldn't even make a good dog bed.

I'm going to check my trailer tonight, but if i recall, the jacknife in my 300BH is not a full piece of furniture that goes to the floor. Rather, there is a wood box frame it sits on, so no space underneath to put a full sofa.

You should be able to replace it with a sleeper hide away bed. Just measure the area you have and visit furniture stores and find an upgrade that's more comfortable and will better fit your needs. Just make sure with measurements that you'll be able to get it through the door. A lot of RV furniture come apart in sections so they will fit through the door opening.
