When we got to the campground this Thursday, I got the Qube out and set it up. It dawned on the Lovely Janet package that this camp ground was going to be very dark come night fall. So she went to get I AM HERE lights out of the bunk room, and found the box was wet. Started checking, and found the vent cover was gone. Placed a tarp over it, and the next day I found a replacement in Merdian about 75 miles away. It was very easy to replace and only took about 2 minutes. what was left of the old one the plastic was very brittle. I think I will get two more and replace them and keep those two as spares. The unit just turned three, and I guess we have only put about 35,000 miles on it. Do they make any that are more durable?

That seems a bit early to need replacement. We have an 04 Silverado and have yet to replace ours however we live in MN and winter in San Francisco so ours doesn't receive alot of sunshine.

This is why I have MaxxAir roof vent covers over all of our roof vents.

Ditto on the roof vent covers. And they keep the rain out if you forget to close the vents.

I'm with Keith, get some vent covers. You can get Camcocovers for $23 at walmart.com. I had four of them before I added two MaxxairMaxx Fans but kept the other two in place.

Frank,

Sorry about your problem. Any possibility you hit something or maybe earlier damage that finally cracked completely? My vents are over 6 yrs and they survived a hail storm earlier this yr that played havoc with the slideout awnings.

Thanks for the reminder, I really should get new vents or vent covers, like real soon.

No I could not see where any thing got hit there. The vent cover that was gone was over the bunk room, any limb there would have taken the vent and skylight in the bathroom, and if backing up the AC would have gotten it. I guess vent covers are in order

Ditto on the seems early to need replacement, was it left up while traveling.. I know 1x I found ours cranked itself up after traveling for a few hours.

Ditto on adding Maxx Air Vents. In a previous post earlier this year, I got a CW email with Maxx AirII for $29 ea. and free shipping on orders over $100. I ordered 3 vents and a bottle of soap $104 to secure the free shipping.

I would like to be able to install vent covers, but the height of storage is at 12 ft. I don't feel comfortable adding them. My luck they would end up right under a ceiling joist when I raised to unhook. That being said---I have never lost a vent cover, or had it crank it self open.
I'll knock on wood for now, and hope for the best.

The vents on our old trailer lasted almost 15 years. Guess they built them better in the "old days". We put the Maxx Air covers on the Zinger before we took delivery.

Never had a vent crank itself open. That's a new one.
