I have the use of indoor heated storage for the winter for my 30QB for free this winter, however getting the 5er in is going to be tight, so I was wondering what the opinions are for using car dollies under the front landing gear to move the unit to it's winter resting area? I figured if I purchase 2 1500lbs dollies I should be good from a weight side. Moving the unit I would have at my disposal 3 or 4 20-40 year olds.

Dave, I personally would not recommend it. One - The landing gear are not very strong for side movement. One of mine was bent slightly by the dealer while showing me how to "slam" the hitch into the pinbox like a trucker. Two - it might be difficult to keep both of the legs vertical while turning into a spot. Is there enough room to use your truck even if you have to unhitch and re-hitch several times?

I agree with stan about the legs not being able to stand much abuse.
My nephew uses a forklift to maneuver his 5er back into the shed. he has a special bracket to capture the pin same as your truck. I realize not everyone has a forklift, but it might be something to think about.

One other thought is, it is critical that the legshit the ground at the same time to keep from twisting your frame or overloading one leg. Not sure how level your area is. Dry storage would be nice though.

I appreciate the feedback and I backed it in, without any issues. It took a little driving in the grass, but it's in for the winter and not a bit too soon. Mid 60's to mid 20's in a few hours...

Thank you all

I have a Crossroads 31RK. I store my camper in the winter in a pole barn with cement floor. The trick is to move it over to one side to give me room to get my boat and truck in. I used four HD dollies rated for 2500 lbs each from Northern Tool around $180.00 and two car dollies rated for 1500 lbs each used on the landing gear. The floor needs to be very clean and is easy to move buy my self. To keep from twisting to much I use two 10 ton bottle jacks and lift both side at a time then put the tri pod jack on and re tact the landing gear and put the car dolly under each side. For me it works great. Good luck!

IMHO After installing Ultra Fab's Eliminators on the landing gear I think that you could use your dolly idea.

Just crank those thumb screws down real tight.Edited by: Kamper Dave

That works for me. Those cheap China made dollies with the steel wheel are real lame. Pay a little more and get alot less hassel.
