Don't know... Is this the handle where the knob is? Could it possibly be leaking there? Does burner light inside grill when lit from bottom?

Did the gas nozzle pull out of the stainless burner? If I don't check mine before using it is usually slid out of the burner.
Can you post a picture of how it looks?

This is at my son's house and in talking to him all the hoses are hooked up. The handle hasn't actually burned but the fire is coming out on the side. He is cutting off the gas before that happens. My husband is on the landline with him now I will get more info.

On mine the bracket that the handle is on flexes easily. That is what allows the nozzle to pull out of the burner. Ever time I pick it up it just about pulls out.

I think they gave him the wrong hose, so we are going to get a new one to see if that helps. Thanks all for your help.

Which grill do you have? Is it this one?

This is the one that came with mine. I have not had a problem.

I will have to look at it tomorrow. We have not had any problems. Gonna get it ready for lake this weekend anyway.

Ok, Brian says the fire is coming out from the assembly that holds the control button. I'll wait to hear back from you.

Morning Tim and all,
I know you all must think I am a nut case but I really am just learning about all of this. Here is the grill low down. We bought the 28BH and our son (my step son) bought the ST32BH at the same time. Both units for some strange reason had grills and hoses removed. The dealer ordered the grills and had them sent to our homes, but no hoses. We had 1 hose in our unit but were told it was for the outside stove and there should be a hose for the grill, which wasn't sent with the ordered grill. My son went by the dealers and they gave him a hose, a very short hose, to use. They told him that they were giving him the hose because one was supposed to have been sent with the grill. He hooked it up but said the hose was really stretched because it was so short and that when he lit the grill that the burner lit and was fine but that he had fire under the control knob too so he cut everything off. He tried this 2 or 3 time with the same results. Now we are all going out this weekend planning to use our grills and we are somewhat nervous about using ours. Do you know where we might be able to get a second hose that is about 6-8 feet long?
Sorry to be so long winded but I was posting last night using info my husband was getting from our son while he was talking to him on the phone.

I looked at mine and fired up too. I would make sure control knob is tight to burner tube assembly. There is a hole in that tube that is meant to entrain air. It is not meant to be lit there. Make sure propane tank is on a half to full turn. Anymore than that is not necessary. There is a small lever on gas line quick connect where it comes out close to grill. Make sure it is fully on. It should be parallel with the line. Turn control knob to light and light from bottom middle hole in grill. I would start here and if does not work, then check further.

Is there plenty of propane in tank? Gas line may need to be bled? Are you trying to light it with grill at a severe angle or out of level? Hope it works.

We must have been typing at same time. I would try another dealer for a longer hose or I have seen at larger sporting good stores. Academy Sports has them.

Ok, Tim thanks. He was lighting it on a level ground. He swapped tanks thinking that might be the problem it wasn't. he was lighting it through the hole in the bottom of the grill. He has been out with his unit for the last 3 weeks and has used the gas for the refer so maybe that took care of the air in the lines. We used our outside kitchen stove last weekend with no problems we hope it is just a fluke with his and that a longer hose will fix his problem. We will check at Academy for the hose for ours and I will tell Brian to check there as well for a new one.

Thanks again Tim for all of your patience and help this is a big investment for us and we want to get the best out of it.

I wonder if the quick connect ends on your hoses and stove match. Sounds to me like you might have different ends.
Might be a place to check.

Thanks Lloyd. I think that maybe part of the problem also that he had to pull the hose so tight just to make the connections that maybe it did not make a good tight connection and the gas was leaking out. The next move is a new longer hose. We'll let you know what happens.
