Low point drain cap
I seem to have lost the cap for my fresh water low point drain. I'm hoping since its Pex that I can easily find a replacement in the plumbing section at Lowe's.
Anyone replaced one of these and remember what worked?

Mine was 1/2" PVC so I cut off the threads and glued on a small shut off valve and called it good. You could do something similar with Pex. They make "sharkbite" slip on valves and sell them at lowes/HD.

Initially I bought another cap at Ace Hardware and threaded it on, my hot water drain. But it leaked even with plumbing tape so I went to Menards and bought a valve from Menards and threaded it on and have not tested it yet, and I have Pex as well.

I hated having to reach up behind the frame and try to unscrew that cap and then possibly forget to put it back on so I cut mine off and extended the line out past the frame and added a shut off valve. Now all I have to do is reach down under the skirting and turn the valve on or off. A lot easier and no more on my hands and knees trying to reach the drain!

Just for information, the 1/2 inch plastic cap fits perfectly. I also bought a 1/2 inch plastic cut off valve. It hangs a little low but I'll fix it later by adding a 90 and bringing it toward the edge of the camper.
Campingcpl - thats for sure. I'll remedy it later.

You or a previous owner must have added the PVC, never saw an ounce of it on any rv I've owned.

Traveling Texan...... I just checked. The pipe is plastic with a glued on male threaded adapter. I bought a threaded PVC valve and screwed it on the threads. I don't know of any glued fitting for PEX or the older grey poly tubing so I assume it was PVC pipe. In any case the point was a valve would be better than a screwed on cap.

I did the same modification as campingcpl did to our Sunset Trail 250RB, it works nicely and makes things a lot easier.

I decided to install a tubing tee cap bottom end and ran the middle of the tee to a quick dissconect for a outside removable water valve.

My low points were threaded sow I just replaced the caps with threaded plastic valves. So much handier.

I have seen some trailers with a house garden hose tap put on the cold low point . They use the tap for hosing things down when no outside tap is available.
