Well,
I just replaced my fuel filter on my Onan 5500k generator after starting it and smelling fuel.
Something I think we all need to do periodically, is take the cover off the generator, and inspect once running.
I changed the oil and filter recently and didn't notice a fuel leak issue then.
I also had a spare filter, which after installing, was also leaking fuel.
A point of notice, is that you Must tighten the filter with a deep socket or open ended wrench, not tightening with a pliers on the barrel. If you do that, you break the seal at the top, hence a leak.
Its a pretty tight space and I'm not sure if that's what I did to promote this leak before.
As you can see, I remove both carb nuts, to allow for more space when installing the new unit.
Getting ready for our Nascar trip and this is something I didn't need issues with, knowing we don't connect to shore power there.
