New Polaris Generators !

Polaris Industries launches new power generator line

  • Article by: DEE DEPASS , Star Tribune
  • Updated: December 21, 2013 - 5:26 PM
Polaris’s new gasoline-powered generators offer up to 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 watts of AC power, depending on which model is chosen. They can be linked together to create additional power.
The generators are expected to power TVs, radios, cellphones and lights during camping and tailgating events, as well as homes after a blackout. The largest model offers 3,000 watts of AC power and can run the air conditioner of an RV for 21 hours. The generators retail for $649 to $1,799.
" I hope there made in the USA and not re-badge Chine stuff i.e Kipor like."

Not likely completely made in USA!

Polaris used Kawasaki Heavy Industries engines in their watercraft a few years ago that were known to grenade after a hundred hours or so. They quit selling watercraft a few years ago, likely the engines were part of that decision.

A lot of the parts that go into their Victory motorcycle line are sourced from across the pond and "assembled" here.

Looks a lot like a Yamaha to me (oriental copy?)

I sent Polaris an email asking where they are made, the short answer was they were designed in the USA but made by a 3rd party. I replied back asking again where they are made, not by who. I'm waiting to hear back.

I'm sure they make a good generator, but in my opinion its hard to beat a Honda, we have a Honda EU3000is and use it a lot during the summer because we like to go to dirt races and she hasn't let us down yet.

X2 We got our Honda before we got the camper but knew it was the way to go. We tend to have power outages in severe weather since we are on a coop. We ordered a wheel kit for ours and like it even more now.

I got my answer from Polaris

Thank you for contacting Polaris Industries. I understand that you would like to know where the new Polaris generator are manufactured.

Polaris does not publish our suppliers, we can share that the generators are produced by a global company selling in 180 countries and has been producing inverter generators as long as the current market leader. The products that they are manufacturing for Polaris are built to the highest standard and are to a higher level than their own brand name.

If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at . Please reference your case number and any of our agents will be happy to assist you.

I think translated to English, Made in China.

Good luck finding any generator that is made exclusively with US components. It is a global economy, and I don't think it really matters.

I just bought a Hot Max Torches 6500/8000 peak generator for the house. Anyone heard of this one? They supposedly make great welders. Says it's made in the USA but is also made in china.

65 decibels at 24 ft. Bought it for the house, not for the camper. Looking to wire a transfer switch in the near future.

Yep, GREAT BIG X2. Try and get parts for your chinese made generator. My son bought a Kipor, supposedly one of the better ones. It died, spent 6 months in the shop trying to get parts and finally gave him another one. It died and they wouldn't even talk to him. I can buy parts for my Yamaha or a Honda. Some parts for an Onan. I just practically gave away a Honeywell 2k Inverter because it wouldn't run and no parts available. No chinese junk for me without a massive amount of proveable support. IE Harbor Freight.

Here's a generator that looks good for test. Service and parts seem to be available.

Ryobi 2200-Watt Gasoline Powered Digital Inverter Generator
Model # RYI2200
$549

Clif, hubby Larry calls these cheap generators "throw aways" because the magnets discharge and parts impossible to find.

That's a good point but read the reviews and take a look at it and you will find there are service centers and parts available and 90 day return to Home Depot and a three year warranty not a 12 point promise. Yes it not a Honda or Yamaha but $400 less.

Just found info on the new Polaris generators. There made China and are Kipor engine. Maybe parts and service will better.
1000 uses a Kipor KG144 motor (OHV)
2000 uses a Kipor KG158 motor (OHV)
3000 uses a Kipor KG205 motor (OHV)
Info from Polaris Forum
