New Tire Time

My unit is a 2013 Hill Country HCT32RL. Have only had it on 8-10 trips, but the tires are at the 5-6 year mark, still fully treaded, but I'm sure dry rot is in the works. What does everyone recommend for tire replacement ? Would prefer to stay with a name brand (Michelin, Goodyear, etc)

Any comments ?

Goodyear Endurance, much improved over the Marathons and the only ST tire made in USA. Also has a higher speed rating.

X3 on the Goodyear Endurance. Put a set on mine last fall and also put a new one on the spare. If you think it’s time for new tires then it probably is. Always trust your gut.

I agree with others. From my research, I believe the Goodyear Endurance is a better than average tire. I did put Sam's Red Ball on my last TT and have had good luck for the three years I have towed it. I have taken it from IL to WDW, FL two times, no problem. That said, I believe Endurance is a better tire. I like the speed rating for Endurance too, since sometimes you need to go a little faster to pass or whatever.

X6 on the Goodyear’s. I replaced my china bombs with the endurance and love them. Great piece of mind with the higher speed raiting and i went up to the next load range (had C’a stock went up to D’s) just so i was not running so close to the max limits on the tires. I think the trailer pulls better with them too but could just be my imagination.

X7 on Endurance, We replaced China's last year. Old moto was ''be prepared'' cause you never knew what direction the trailer wanted to drive the truck. NOW ''enjoy the scenery'' as you basically have to look in the mirror to make sure the trailers still attached. Night and day difference and absolutely love them..

X8 on the Goodyear Endurance. I replaced all 5 at the beginning of last year. Very pleased with them. Check with Goodyear for sales and rebates. I got mine from Discount Tire Direct with rebate and free delivery and had a local shop balance and install them.

Did they all have reasonable DOT MFG dates on them?

I agree with the group, those need to go. You don't want a blowout that damages your trailer (our Seville sustained $1,400 due to a china bomb, we got off lucky).

Add a good TPMS would be a suggestion as well. Your truck may or may not have one built in but only the 2019 trucks have a way to monitor the towed unit as well.

We have a Hill Country 32RL (which we love). Replaced the original (2014) tires last year with Goodyear. Went up a class just for peace of mind. Never had an issue with the old tires and the new ones had no issues for the past year. Just be sure and check your tire pressure after they are installed. I asked for 75# (rated) and they only filled them to 65#. We only tow at a max of 65 but it's nice to know that is not near the new tires max, just in case we push it a little. We are in Texas too.

You might want to check out Boar Wheel - Buy Heavy-Duty Trailer Wheels Online I changed to them and have been impressed with their personal service and quality.

At around $350 to over $650 a wheel, that's out of my price range.

I run my Endurance at there recommended individual MAX of 65psi. I roll with the tire companies recommendation, as I'm sure Goodyear knows more about there own tires than anyone else. Crossroad might have a recommended tire pressure, but judging from there quality control i'll stick to what Goodyear says.
