New to forum and new owner

Hi All. Just ordered a 2014 Sunset Trail SF32RL 5th Wheel Hopefully it will be here in 4- 6 weeks. Traded up from our 05 Copper Canyon bunkhouse. Looking forward to reading about everyone's comments and learning more about the trailer. Can anyone tell me if the 5th wheels have a walk on roof and if a ladder can be added? Thanks in advance for all your help.

John

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the forum.

I will be surprised if your model doesn't have a ladder. The roof will be a walk on roof unless something has changed recently.

Thanks Scott, All the pictures I see online and the one at the dealer doesn't show a ladder. Doesn't even show it as an option to order.

The Sunset trail line is considered an ultra lite line. The roof has steel trusses 16"oc covered with 3/8 plywood. It is not considered a walk-on roof for everyday activities, however it can be walked on to do routine maintenance. Stay on the trusses or use plywood to even out your load when performing maintenance.

Also because Crossroads does not consider this to be a walk-on roof, a ladder is not a factory option.

That makes sense. Considering all roofs should be regularly maintained over time, it's good advice to take a couple pieces of 3/8" plywood (4'x4') up with you. Just make sure there is no wind!

Read "Sunset Trail" section under CrossRoads products.
Alum Roof trusses. Wood/plywood Trusses at inside ceilling seams; staples won't hold into "Alum." Roof decking on ours is metric just over 1/4" "'paneling.'" On factory Tour CrossRoads put nothing on roof, all work done from or off gandtries.
Gray Water Drain Valves have major design flaws; have them corrected before taking possession. One never wants to crawl under trailer IN dump stations!!
Plan on joining July Factory Rally & a extra week for trailer to go thru factory repairs. Hope you have an understanding dealer.
As a total Wife LOVES our SF32RL. Just lots of little things done on the cheap by THOR!

Alchemistic,

I don't know were you read that, Crossroads Sunset Trail Brochure clearly states stamped steel trusses, and 3/8 plywood and aluminum wall studs on the 2014 and it is the same on my 2013. What year is your trailer?

Is that for the roof or the floor?
There is no way I would believe there is steel trusses in the roof.

I see in the info it states stamped steel roof trusses.
Look at the picture. That's wood trusses.
I might be wrong, but if I had to bet, I would be willing to lay my money on the wood trusses.

Hi all, Thanks for the great info. I must admit that the CR website doesn't have a lot of information on it. I have a couple of other questions if you guys don't mind... What is the warranty on the 2014's? There is nothing I can find on the website or the brochure. Do these trailers have tank heaters or is it a heated underbelly?
Thanks again, John

They are stamped steel. One year warranty. No tank heaters. Heated underbelly, means radiant heat from furnace ductwork running in the enclosed underbelly helps keep things from freezing only if furnace is running

They are "not" stamped steel!
I just got off the phone with CR and he was shocked to say the least. He was going to get a hold of sales right after he got off the phone with me. Hopefully they will get that corrected.
