Question Norcold N6, N8, & series 1200 Gas Absorption Refrigerator Class Action Settlement

Has anyone else on this forum received an e-mail saying that Norcold N6, N8, and series 1200 refrigerators are subjects of a class action settlement. According to this e-mail these refrigerators can leak gas and catch fire...

I have called Camping World and they have said they have not heard anything about a recall or about Norcold refrigerators in general...I will be calling Thetford, who is the manufacturer of Norcold on Monday to ask them about this matter...

I am putting this on the forum to find out if any other members have gotten this e-mail or if this is just some kind of e-mail scam...???

Thanks Frank, but this settlement is for N6 & N8 models made between 1/1/2009 and 12/31/2013...It is good to know first of all that they were recalled, and also glad to hear that you have gotten lots of service from yours...I haven't had any problems with mine either to this point...

I received the same email notice about the recall. I have an N8 series in my 2013 CR ST 5th Wheel and have not had any problems with it. Based on the recall for my model, the're extending the warranty for another 3 years.

By your reply can I assume you called Thetford and they gave you an extension on your refrigerator warranty.???

I also want to say again the e-mail I got was not from Thetford informing me of a recall, but from an unknown source about a class action settlement that the e-mail is saying I must sign up for...

Don Thanks for your reply, I will be calling Thetford tomorrow...

This must be the class action that Tommy is talking about. It was just announced a few days ago.

Zimmerman Reed, LLP announces class action settlement with Norcold, Inc.

Thanks Mark
Evidently the e-mail I received is legitimate...Have not had any problems with my N8, works great...With that being said I might want to find out more about the extended warranty though...

Guys, it is a class action lawsuit that someone has filed againt Tethford for issues with their RV frig's. Most times, these class action lawsuits go no where. That may be the case here as well. Time will tell. You have to elect out of the lawsuit if you want to take action against Tethford. I have't had any problems with my N8 frige. If the lawsuit is legit, and there is a settlement, I elected the 3 year warranty option vs. having shares in some future settlement. To me that is more valuable then pennies on the dollar.

I went to the following website listed on the email - www.NorcoldClassAction.com and filed a claim. There are a number of options listed if your frige needed repairs and you paid out of pocket. At the bottom of the page is a option for a 3 year warranty extension. I selected that option since I have no out of pocket expenses for frige repairs.

Thanks Don
I still have not called, but thanks for the info...I will probably opt for the 3 year extension also, as I have not had any trouble either...

Went to the web site and started to fill out claim but at the bottom of the options page there was not an option for the 3 year warranty...They must have taken that option away...Just stated I would get 5 shares of their stock...How long ago did you apply.???
