The e-brake would work fine if the 5er became unhitched. My Ford diesel is just such a beast it was able to drag it along.......
I'm not sure who had the problem with the "BRAKE AWAY SWITCH" but I hope you took your wheels and brake drums off after that happened to inspect all four sets of brake shoes and axles...
