Parasitic Battery Drain
We have a 2014 Crossroads 29RK fifth wheel. We came back from our last trip 10 days ago. I turned everything off and put it on the storage pad at home. Today I went out to put things back in and found the battery was dead. The battery is an Interstate Marine/RV Deep Cycle Group 27. It had drained to 7 volts according to my multimeter. The only parasitic drain that I know of is the clock on the stereo, the smoke detector and the propane leak detector. Are these enough to drain the fully charged battery in only 10 days?

If you are sure, that's all that was drawing, then apparently it can.
There might be more that was inadvertently forgotten and was left on. One thing that comes to mind is the TV booster.
With that being said, I have to admit I am not a fan of the Interstate Marine/RV Deep Cycle Group 27.
When we bought our trailer I had two of them installed. Big mistake!!
I now have two Trojan t105 6V in there. My unit can sit for weeks not being plugged in, and the parasite draws don't discharge them like you have just experienced.
In fact Mine sat for two or three weeks recently, and I showed 12.7. yesterday when I checked.

Not a big fan of the Interstate Marine/RV Deep Cycle batteries either. As far as parasitic drain you can also add the tv, signal booster, and microwave.

Last time I checked the microwave ran on 120 AC and my TV runs on 120 also.

If you don't have a battery shut off, you can install one. Or disconnect the battery and see if it losses it's charge.

Does your microwave have a clock? LED TVs draw power even when shut off.
That's how they have the instant on when you hit the switch.

But the tv and microwave are plugged into the 120 outlets. They do not drain off the 12v system. When I'm not plugged in, the tv and micro shows nothing. Looking at the microwave is how I know I have my 120 connected.

The one thing I missed was the antenna booster. So the booster, gas detector, and clock display on the stereo are the draws I can account for. These combined with a cheap battery must be the issue. Imagine that, the dealer gave me the cheapest possible battery. Shouldn't be surprised, he only filled one of the propane tanks and charged me for the other fill.
Thanks guys for your help.

Yes that is more than enough to draw down one 12V battery in 10 days. If you check the CM detector (if I remember correctly) it says .7 amps to run it. Lets say with all of the other stuff you have 1.5 AMPs per hour times 24 hours, one day is 36 A/H, in 3 days your battery will be dead (108 A/H). What I have to do is use a wing nut on the ground post the last thing I do before storage is spin the wing nut take the Neg lead off, first thing I do in taking it out off storage is hook the Neg lead back up. Battery will last for weeks with no drain on it.

Ok, newbie here...same exact problem, same exact cheap battery...disconnect switch? Anyone care to provide a link to one?
Additionally, I have 120v 20A power available where I store mine. Is it better to plug into my 50A service system using adapters or just put a trickle charger on the battery?
Thx

Buy the adapter and keep it plugged in all the time. The newer rigs have a smart charger which will maintain the battery without boiling it dry. My last trailer had the Interstate battery everyone is complaining about and it was fine after 2 years. I added water once in that 2 years and it was plugged in all the time. I also left the fridge on and kept beverages in it.

Must be a cross company Crossroads thing !
Our redwood came with a battery disconnect that doesn't disconnect
so we have a dead battery each time we go get it from the storage area unless I disconnect the cables !!!
What is the use of putting a battery disconnect that doesn't ?!?!
