pilot light on oven

I was able to light oven on sat morning but would not light this morning. Stove burner lite great but when I would get pilot to light lit only had a small flame and would go out when I would turn it to come on. Anyone knows if pilot is adjustable? Looks like stove has to come out to get to gas valve if thermocouple has to be replaced. Has anyone has a similar problem or have any ideas.

I know mine is difficult to light. I have to hold it for a long tome to get it to light and then turn the knob to my temp setting. Have you used the stove before without issues. I'm assuming from the burner comment your propane is turned all the way on and there is no air in the line and you are not low on propane.Edited by: anaro

mine is also hardby times to light but it did light the day before. Pilot would stay lite as long as I was pushing knob in, but when I would turn to lite burner it would go out. After a few tries we could smell the gas so we just stopped trying.

I don't think the pilot is adjustable. make sure the pilot flame is actually hitting the thermocouple. If the pilot goes out as soon as you release the button (after holding it in for 30 seconds to heat up) then chances are the thermocouple is bad.

You could try to clean the thermocoupling with emery cloth or a scotchbrite pad. It will usually take care of the problem.Edited by: JKgrizzly

You've almost got to be a contortionist to light those things......really a 2 person job!

I've just been heating the thremocouple with the stick lighter, then set the temp on the oven so the burner lights off the stick lighter and the by-product is that the pilot light ignites. No poof and it works.

Try a new thermocouple. Easy to install and 99.9 percent of the time the problem. It is the small probe that sits beside the pilot light, you need not go to a RV dealer but any place that sells furnace or other related parts as they are all the same. Probably only need an 18" when installing just make sure you follow instructions if you have not done it before. The threaded end has to be secure but not too tight the other end just slides in far enough to get hot fro the pilot light. Excess length can just be coiled up so it it not in the way.

Our Crossroads is in for warranty work, I will ask them to show me how to light the oven and let you know how it goes. I think we pick it up next week had to order some parts.

I just was at the dealer on the pilot lighting but the stove wouldn't light. The problem stems from the electrical charge may be low. I had a low/dead battery. The thermocouple needs enough power to open the valve for the propane to flow. As soon as I charged up the battery; no problems.
