George,

I have a Cruiser but if my memory serves (which it may not!) I think the material goes all the way to the pin box and the screws then go through the trim and up into that "lip" that comes off the top of the pin box. I am pretty sure that is how it is because I have had to put some loctite on a couple of those screws that kept "backing out".

As you can see the left side is short andnot screwed to the brace and it moves up and down some when traveling.

I would try and have that fixed. That is not sealed and water could get behind it while traveling in the rain and expose parts to water damage. Ours is screwed on all the way around and then sealed with white sealer. Edited by: Hunter11

I just went outside and looked and if that would need replaced, that piece is from the end of the front cap down the front where the front storage compartment door is.

Ours has been off before andI can tell you there is wood and insulation back there so you do not want water getting in there.

George,

CR won't answer on the forum but you can send the pictures via e-mail to them and they should respond.

George, your dealer should take care of this under your warranty. If not call the Crossroads main number and ask to speak to Randy Mischler. He will probably have you email some pictures to him.

I spoke to Randy today. I explained to him and he saw the pictures. According to him, this should not matter about the gap. He said they looked at other units and units being assembled and they are the same way or shifted the other way or centered. He also said that no water should get in there when it rains or while going down the road, with it being on the underside and air flow. If it is a concern to me it can be fixed by putting another piece in to close it up.

I also spoke to him about some other issues with the 5er. He said just make an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance and get them a list of everything that needs repaired, so they know what they are going to have to do.

He was very nice and hehad interestwith my concerns.

Well there you go, I guessI was wrong about water being able to get in around the opening.

I have dealt with Randy on a couple of problems with our trailer and he has always been great to work with and was able to get our issues resolved. If the repair facility was not so far from usI would have taken our trailer there to have the repairs done.

I am looking at my dealer only replacing blinds that he has for my unit and the rest of my issues being handled through the factory. We have to wait for 2 months before we can plan that though.

A lot of good has been posted about Randy and the Crossroads repair facility . I had the opportunity (or is it mis-fortune) to need service last year. We where in Michigan during the week leading up to the factory rally and part of the frame for the lower bunk cracked. I called Randy early in the week and he had everything set up to have the work done Friday morning. We pulled into the parking lot and they fixed it better than new.

I'll post my judgement on the service department in April. I need to have them fix a crack in my nose cap on the underside. Also, I have several other minor things that the factory is better suited to fix rather then a dealer who would have to order parts and wait weeks fof delivery.

So far:

Nose cap cracked (hairline in gelcoat)

Screws not "biting" into framing under nose cap

ABS undercover along nose cap is not staying atttached properly

Carpet has bare spot on corner of bedroom stair

Poles for table developing corrosion

And a few other small issues

I am hoping that I can give a report by the end of April myself. I would like to make it out there in March or beginning of April for repairs to my unit.
