i've never camped there, but some of my good freinds do it every year. they somehow work for the track directing traffic for two or three hours a day and then they camp for free, from thursday to monday. one word of caution look at where you park your trailer. i dont remember if it was last year or the year before but it rained hard and the area they were in flooded real bad. some had to be moved. also dont know if you have young ones camping with you, but if you do the night life gets a little wild. you might see a wet t-shirt contest and rowdy crowds. also it seems like nascar campers are all alright with construction style generators. my freinds love it and i'll probably be there next year with them.
absolutly!!!! not a organized event by a sponsor...but never the less. give me a day or two, one of the guys that goes is a part time pro photographer. he took a ton of photos and video. the rain and mud was so bad that people were sliding in the mud for fun. we were going to go and one of the wves got to my wife and told her the night life there was too much for her. next year i'll be there.
I have seen a few wild nights at these events. Nothing I would want the kids to see. This is the exception and not the rule though. Most of the times I have ever been the worst thing we have seen would be people drinkin. We have had the best of time at these events and I would give any thing to get my mom to go to one of these events and this is not something she would want to see.
It is like any thing else, If you look for it hard enough you will find it.
I'm there for the second race every year. I have a reserved site in the Reserved Infield RV area. This is enclosed by a fence and has a security guard, It is a little calmer than the rest of the infield. It also has thick grass which helps with the flooding and mud issue. Lots of kids in this area.
The loud generators suck. I recommend getting a quiet one of you can afford it. I got a Boliy 3600 watt generator for under $1,000. It's almost as quiet as a Honda.
