I put a few gallons of water in the potable water tank so we could flush the toilet if we needed to on our trip back from Oklahoma. I forgot to put the cap back on the fill hole. When we got to our destination that evening the tank was empty. I can understand that some water could have sloshed out through the fill hole, but it's hard to believe that all of it could have. When we got home I filled the tank and it didn't leak. Is it possible that all of the potable water would be lost through the fill hole while traveling?

Thanks,

I am not sure how much water you put in but the tank pick up is not on the very bottom of the tank. There will be a few gallons left in the tank below the pick up. It is very possible you are at that level where you think it is empty but is really is not. If you are interested there are some up have made a mod get get more water out of the tank.

my pump doesn't pickup water until the tank is at least 1/3 on the gauge. I don't think you lost your water, i would tend to believe you didn't have enough in the tank for the pump to pick it up.

x3 -- My tank is the same. I think it takes about 10+ gallons to reach my pick up hose. That is a mod I am considering for next camping season.

I wonder if Crossroads did that intentionally to prevent sucking up crud that may accumulate on the bottom of the tank. Has anyone who has done the modification had problems with picking up debris from the bottom of the tank?

Thanks,

I did that mod 4 years ago and have had no problems picking up debris from the bottom of the tank. Even with the mod there is still a small amout of water left in the tank on the bottom and in any low spots.

Ridgeman - Just curious is that your awning light outlet just below your amber porch light in your photo?

Salda, Good eye! The picture is so small it looks like part of the porch light, but you are right. It is the awning light outlet.
