Power jack blowing fuses
My power jack has be blowing fuses frequently this summer - 3 fuses in the last 7-8 uses. This has never happened before. There has been a few times where the ball has not easily uncoupled from the hitch recent. Perhaps that’s the issue. Maybe more grease in the coupler? Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

I have never blown a fuse, but I think I tripped something a few times in my slanted driveway. Maybe it has some thermal protector or something but it would quit for a minute then start working again after sitting for a few. What I started doing is when I park the trailer I try to ensure there is no stress added to the tongue (think like trailer wanting to roll forward or backward resulting in the jack being cocked and binding a little). I chock the wheels while still hooked up and let it settle against the chocks before raising it. Hasn't cut out or tripped anything since I started doing this. Not sure if this helps or not or if my issue was a fluke that just went away either...lol. Regards, Jim

I blew one a couple weeks ago. Worked when I hooked up at the campground. Arrived at home, went to unhook. There was no power to the jack. took me awhile to find it was an inline fuse.

I wonder if that might be part of the reason some of the guys have went to a heavier electric jack.

I have found that if I bottom the jack out when it is retracting, it will blow the fuse every time, stop the jack 1/2” short of fully retracted.

Agree 100% But I go to the last 1/4 inch, let the switch go, and the momentum of the mechanism will take it up to a nice, satisfying "cinch," without any electrical draw. Now, just in case, where did I put that spare fuse?

Just replaced my LCI 3500lb jack with the Husky super brute 5000lb jack. It now lifts up the truck and trailer when I'm hooking up with ease and it has auto stop in both directions.

My inline fuse would also blow every time I bottomed out the jack. I replaced it with an auto resetting fuse (about 7 bucks) and no more problems.

I think you are right. Used it this past weekend. When I hooked up on Thursday I had bottom the jack, and the fuse blew. the next time I stopped about 1/2 inch before it bottomed out and it was good.

I never botton out my jack for fear of stripping a tiny gear in the planetary. I previously bottomed out my jack manually by hand and marked it 1/4 inch from bottom, I say close enough. Did the same for fully extended, when I see the line, time to stop. Better safe than sorry.. It might not be everyone's method but works for me.

I have the same issue of blowing the fuse when retracting. I do the same thing Marty in SC recommends an haven’t blown one since. That being said, I like
Boston Dave’s approach the best😁
