propane heat
Does anyone know the average time we could keep propane heater workin without electricity? Thinking bout camping without electricity, but would like to keep warm for a while....

By propane heater, do you mean the furnace in your camper?
If so, it will depend on what you have for battery/batteries. I think the furnace fan will draw some where in the neighborhood of 8.5 amps. Then it will depend on how cold it will be as to how much your furnace will have to run.
I have duel Trojan T105 deep cycle batteries and would not want to push it much over a weekend. With not real cold temps.

Hi Lloyd...nope just the oem 12 volt type battery...think it would last 8 hrs? just need it for a day...

I think it will depend on what the temperature is, and how old the battery is and what condition it's in.
Course if need be you could always plug the trailer light cord to your truck and run the truck for awhile to recharge the battery.

We have been down as low as 27 below zero, and they are talking colder next week. 40-50 degree wind chills. 
Saying record cold temps.

Wind chills here in Vermont are at -29 right now! Raw temp is -9. Tonight I hear that the temp is going down to -16 F and wind chills down to -35. I think I'll stay in!

Goodness, I was worried about our 22F here this morning but now I am concerned for all of you Northerners. Please stay warm and indoors if at all possible.
I wish we had the locale for all of you so we would be able to track. Gcross1468 = Vermont. Where are you Cowboy71 and Lloyd?

I own a GMC, and was told by a machanic, that even though the camper cord was pluged into my truck, the truck would not charge the camper battery. He said I need something installed under the hood to preform that function. I don't know if that is also true for Ford & Dodge.

On the Chevy Duramax I owned, they went under the hood and changed out something in the fuse box. I don't remember any more just what it was, but your GM dealer should know about that. If he doesn't the RV dealer might.
I have a feeling somebody will jump in here and explain it to both of us.

All I know is the wire in the truck from the front to the back wire harness is to small to carry a charge ...it would take a long drive to recharge a battery fully. Thats probably why they changed something ...

If you have the factory towing package with the seven pin connector, all you have to do is go into the fuse box under the hood and put the proper fuse in the slot. There is a slot for this function. If there is what looks like a fuse all ready in there pull it and replace it. At one time and some still do the ship them with a dummy in place, so that spot will not rust.

That sounds right to me. It's been along time back since they done that on my 03 Duramax, and I wasn't sure about just how it went any more.
I know Frank posted this once before. I was hoping you would jump in here Frank.

Weather man is saying it will be -4 here on mon with wind chills to -40! I can't remember the last time we hit zero. I am in extreme Southern IL and they are talking about breaking records all across the Midwest. There have been numerous deaths related to the cold already in the north east.
