I'll tell you what I have experienced.
I use to torque to 90#. After finding numerous threads pulled on both the studs and lug nuts, I got tired of replacing them. I started torquing to 85# and I don't remember if I backed that off to 80# or not. (will know in the spring)
I didn't notice any thing loosening up by doing it that way. Sure did cut down on the pulled threads tho.
Yes, I feel my torque wrench is correct. I have checked it with two other ones.
