Ok, I quess I'm a little slow. A friend of mine told me he uses quick hose connectors for his water inlet and flush inlet. I had never thught about it. Always delt with trying to get the hose tight so it wouldn't leak. Went to Lowes and purchased two quick release hose connectors for about $13.00 and istalled them on my water and flush inlets. A little plumming tape and I was done. Used it this past weekend. Wow ! strange how little things can make you happy. Anyone else use them? If not put them on. Then just clip on the hose and smile.

I installed them on my fresh water and flush hoses. I cut the hoses about 15 inches from the end that connects inside the storage compartment and installed the quick connects at the cut. Now when I hook up the hoses I push them through the hole in the floor of the storage compartment and connect the quick connects. Since its underneath the trailer where the connection is made when I disconnect the hoses the water in the hoses drains on the ground not in the storage compartment.

That's one of those "now why didn't I think of that" moments.Brilliant, I'm on my way to the store now, thanks! I really like the extended hose concept, cool

Ditto on the brilliant idea ! The water draining into the floor of the compartment has bothered me from day one, just couldn't think of a good solution. Thanks for the tip. Going to Home Depot tomorrow AM.

Here are the brass quick connectors I installed to my unit. And pictures of the water and black flush inlets; before and after.

Here is how I installed my quick disconnects. Once disconnected I pull the short hoses back inside the storage compartment.

I put a shut off on the end of my hoses. It allows me to purge the air from the hose before hooking it up.

That is cool, I would have to find a find a short one as our fresh water is mounted on the side.

My rig is in storage so can't get a pic. It looks like the picture below. This screws on to the hose and then you can screw on the quick disconnect to this. You would hook the hose to the water supply and turn it on. You can then open this shut off valve to purge the line of air before you hook it up to the trailer.

Great idea for the 5th wheel. Especially the part about not getting water in the basement! I do something similar on my boat...the city water connection is in the anchor locker with a quick disconnect coupling connected to it. The hose has the other half of the quick disconnect on it in with an in-line shut off valve immediately upstream from the quick disconnect. That way the hose stays pressurized when I am out sailing. When I get back to the dock I connect the hose then turn the water back on with the in-line valve. That saves me having to get off the boat just to turn the water on. I suppose that part is not a big deal with a camper.

This looks just like mine. Wow how a good idea is duplicated. I also use a "Y" connector to divert water to the flush hose without having to disconnect the water in line.
