Raising the trailer
They tell us not to raise our trailer by jacking under the axle. Then they come along with something like this.
How to Avoid Flat Spots on your Trailer Tires - RV Life
Maybe that is for units made by some other outfit that has thicker wall axles??

I think flat spots were more of an issue with bias ply tires. The newer radial style is less prone to flat spots. That link is interesting but I agree, it does stress the axle tube. Of course the best way to prevent flat spots is to use the RV every weekend!

Probably made when axles were actually made thicker.

That's how they do the tire aligament by bending the axle,so if jack it up under the axle you could knock it out of aligament.

Axles dont bend if you lift them close to the leaf shackles.
If they did, they would bend under pressure from the leaf spring shackles.
Big misconception about lifting unit from under the axles.

Have used jacks on mine for years, just be sure to place the jack directly under the spring pack not out in the middle of the axle tube.

Why not just use your level-up? When I put my G614's on it lifted one side at a time, I support the axle with a jack when doing bearnings or brakes.

I've always jacked up Tt, 5ers, etc. by placing jack under jack spring. If you couldn't jack them up you could never change the tires. I always jack mine up and put on jack stands after the last camping trip of the season until spring. Not sure if it helps the tires but that's just how I've always done it.

I feel comfortable to jack up under the leaf spring bolts or at the shock mount under the axle. I won't jack up on the axle tube unless I've raised the other two tires up on blocks, to unload the majority of weight.

Jim, now that I have one with the level up I can use it to raise the coach, but didn't have that luxury in the past. I still use jacks under the axles to keep from flipping the shackles.
