In my FW, there is a switch just before entering the BR that turns the speakers on and off. I was working in there over the weekend and flipped the switch on to listen to the radio. I thought it was broken because I couldn't hear the music even tho it was playing in the LR. I leaned in closer and it was playing but really low. Anyone else heard this and found a solution?

Do you need to also hit the "B" button to turn on the volume at the player?

A is living room
B is bedroom
C is outside
The buttons need to be light up for the area you want
the sound in.

I haven't seen the A,B & C buttons. My player is an RCA. I turned it around and found that where the speaker wires come into the backanother poor quality situation. The wires slide into holes that are exposed by pressing down/up on a lever. Each of the speaker wires were only in a fraction of what the wire was stripped back to. This allowed the wires, which were frayed, to touch each other. All I had to do was remove each wire, twist it tight, push the lever and re-insert the wire carefully pushing it all the way in. This fixed the volume in the BR somewhat. It is still lower but not as much. I also went into the menu of the player and fooled with the levels for the surround sound. I found the center chanel 20DB different than the rest and made it the same. One of these days, I'll take the speaker out and check the wire color and see if I can determine which chanel is in the BR.

Do yourself a favor, pull all those wires out, one at a tiime, and solder the ends that go into the speaker jacks. Having just one strand of wire from the positive terminal touch to the negative can blow your output amplifier.

You probably have tried this but have your tried the fade front/rear options on the radio? It may be turned all the way one way or the other.

The unit, that came with mine,is an RCA DVD player withfront L&R, rear L&R, center and subwoofer. So, in the LR/KT area the sound is good and you can hear the surround effect. How they split off and sent L&R to the BR is a mystery.
