Hi everyone.

I have noticed that the caulk on the camper is starting to crack. I have bought a scraper to take the old caulk off. My question is after I scrape the old caulk off, what do I prep the surface with before recaulking? The surface on the 5er is gel coat. I don't want anything too harsh that might damage the gel coat, but at the same time after doing all the work to scrape and recaulk I want it to adhere properly. Using DICOR 551 to recaulk.

Thanks in advance.

I use mineral spirits and let it dry good.

I have a bottle of 70% Isopropyl alcohol that I use. It doesn't hurt the finish, and what I like about it over mineral spirits, is it dries faster.

I should have said it doesn't harm the gel coat. It will work on the wax tho.

Cwit & LloydThanks for the info, I was thinking denatured alcohol. I don't care about the wax I wanted to get right down to the gel coat surface for better adhesion
