Check the shore power you're connected to! If you don't have a surge protector/EMS, GET ONE & use it EVERY time you plug in. The EMS will prevent faulty shore power from shorting anything in your rv.
When you're shore power is off if your fridge is set to "auto" it should switch to LP & still work. If it's set to "AC" & power is unhooked, no it won't run. Start by changing the setting on the fridge front controls to "auto" & leave it there, there's no need to set differently.
You're also talking 2 different power sources DC is 12 volts from your batteries which run lights, awnings, hydraulic pumps (if equipped), furnace, along with the control boards to your fridge, water heater. AC is 120 volts from your shore cord or generator to power the fridge, water heater, air conditioners, microwaves.
Hooking to AC shouldn't be blowing DC fuses, but it might trip breakers. The fridge may be on the GFCI circuit, but the awning will not be, it's12 volt.
