Some time ago I talked with someone on this site about a ramp that allowed one wheel at a time to be off the ground. This ramp was used for changing flats, and also for packing wheel bearings. Can anyone remind me of the brand of this ramp and where I might purchase one.

Thank you. Greg

I don't remember the brand or name but I did see them at my local rv store today.

I just found them in my rv book. They are called trailer-aid chocks made by camco

Brandon is correct. I use it to repack my bearings (although you can only do one wheel at a time) and for changing tires. Works great, takes up only a little space and is real easy.

32 bucks is a good price. I just bought one at Camping World two weeks ago for 57 bucks (I think). That was the Good Sam's discount price, too.

Good Sam seems to be pretty proud of his merchandise. We've noticed that about him several times.

Okay, here is perhaps a dumb question, but I better find out the answer before I damage something.

Can tires/wheels be changed with only one of these ramps, or are two required? Seems like if only one was used the trailer would be leaning over quite a bit.

Thanks for your help.

Two or three pieces of 2x6 about2 to 2-1/2 feet long will do just as well! They never come amiss when leveling up either.

Only one ramp is needed. They come in two sizes, I would suggest that you get the Travel Aid Plus which gives about another inch of lift over the standard ramp. The Plus that I have is black.

The plastic ones are OK if you have a light trailer or don't need to change a tire on anything other than pavement.

If you have a heavier trailer or need to change a tire along side the road this aluminum one is a better bet:

Okay, I'm beginning to think that I am looking at this incorrectly. Let's assume I want to repack the wheel bearings on the front wheel on the drivers side of my trailer. Do I place the ramp in the front of that wheel and pull forward until that wheel goes off the end of the ramp and is then hanging in mid-air. Or, do I place the ramp behind the rear tire on the drivers side of the trailer and then back up until the rear tire is on the ramp and that will lift the front tire off the ground.

Perhaps I could figure this out if I just got the ramp, hooked up the truck and started trying different options. However, I think I heard someone say "don't drive the wheel off the end of the ramp." And that is the way I originally thought they worked.

I guess I'm trying to visualize how to get one tire on the ramp and the adjacent tire suspended in the air.

Could someone share the proper technique?

Thanks.

Greg, if you haven't picked up a set of grease seals, I recommend you get a set before starting this job. If you plan to do it in the Rice Lake area, let me know when and where and if our schedules match, I will give you a hand.

Will this ramp work with the wide stance axles on our 2012 cruiser? In the video it has standard spaced axles. Wanted to get one but not sure if it will work with the wide stance axles

I would suggest contacting the company to determine if the ramp will work on the wide stance axles.

Brandon, I noticed you have a new Rushmore Washington and a new 3500 SRW pickup, have you had the opportunity to try out the package yet? I have a new F350 Dually and I just purchased the Rushmore Washington but am still waiting to take delivery. I had considered a SRW pickup but decided to try a dually for the first time.

Do u mean have I taken it out yet? No not yet we will be going on our first trip on the 1st then after that we are going to move into it full time. We were going to get a dually but decided on the srw. Our truck pulled is so easy and smooth and we went up over the Rockies like it wasn't ever there, so that being said your dually will do great, these trailers pull really good.Edited by: pipeliner

Russ,

Thanks for that UTube video. That thing works pretty slick. I could probably even do that.
