Replacing a/c

I need to replace the 15K dometic Duo-therm AC unit on my 07 Cruiser. The fan motor died a few years back and I replaced that (not a fun job but do-able) and all was well but now the unit isn't cooling and it has lost most of the freon. So it is time to replace it. Seem like a fairly straight forward swap as long as I get the correct model. According to the mobile rv tech that looked at it (of course it died while we were "on the road") all I need is the "top unit". The issue I am running into is it seems that the exact model I need is no longer produced, the model is #59516.331. I can find a model #459516 which I think is probably the correct replacement. I haven't spoken to anyone at the local rv dealer or online parts retailers yet. I thought I would ask here first if anyone had any experience replacing a unit. I know some people have added a 2nd unit. Any thoughts?
Thanks as always,
Lonnie

Is there a camping world or dealer you can visit...maybe compare new units?

As long as duct openings are the same, should be an easy swap.

The simplest and best solution is often ignored, call or e-mail Dometic. They know.

I need a lesson in AC units as I thought they all were pretty much the same as far as mounting. Isn't it just mounded over a square hole? What do you mean by "top unit"

Thanks,

They are pretty much the same in some respects like they all use a 14 x 14 opening. The top unit is just what sets on the roof of the camper. It is not the trim you see on the ceiling inside the camper. A "complete" unit includes the thermostat, interior trim, wiring and the unit on the roof. The top unit uses all the existing parts inside the camper and just gets mounted on the roof and wired using the existing wiring and thermostat.
