replacing leveling scissor jack.

I'm replacing the 3rd leveling scissor jack in less than 3 years on my Sunset Trail, with the first two done under warranty at the dealer.

I removed the bad one by removing the two bolts through the top bracket, not realizing they were part of the jack pivot. For those who have done this before, did you replace it with these pivot bolts, or remove the bolts holding the bracket to the trailer frame? Because of the coroplast, I can't see how the bolts attach to the frame. Built in nut? nut and washer? screw tapped into frame? I'd prefer not to cut through coroplast if I can.

Sorry, I don't know how they're installed. Although they aren't designed to be "leveling" jacks, they are "stabilizers", the rv should be "leveled" with blocks side to side & front to back with tongue jack & then "stabilized" with the scissor jacks.

I don't have a an answer to your question, but would like to know what is failing on your jacks.
FYI, no insult is intended, buy they are not leveling jacks and should not be used to level the Rv. They are stabilizing jacks and are just there to stabilize the rv by snugging them to the ground, not lifting the rv to level.

Yes, I understand that they are not to be used for leveling, I was using the terminology on the jack.
I suspect the failure has something to do with my use of a power drill to move them up and down. Not sure what the exact failure point is, but they will not stay up.

Maybe try another brand/manufacturer, I doubt the use of your cordless drill has anything to do with the jack failure as I'm guessing 90% of rv owners use the drill on the jacks.

They are held on with self tapping screws. You don't think these manufacturers would waste time and money on welded nuts....lol.

Thanks Harley. I've never used self tapping screws before- can I reuse them, or do I need to get new ones?

They can be reused as they only drilled one hole . If they are dull just drill a pilot hole then screw them in . But the new stab jack could have the same hole pattern so it is just a matter of screwing .

I replaced mine by simply removing the bolt that is part of the jack. Not the bolts holding it to the frame.
This is what I installed and they work flawlessly. I just keep them lubed.
