Roof Repair

So, this weekend before heading home, I climbed up on the roof with a broom, as I usually do when there is a lot of trees and some windy/rainy weather. I noticed along the door side starting about 3 feet from the rear and going about 20 feet or so till about where the roof levels out above of the upstairs, what appears to me, is a long piece (or a few pieces) of flat aluminum about 8 inches wide to make the rounded roof edge where the roof wraps down the side a few inches. It looks the nails/staples holding it down have popped and the flat aluminum has lifted about 3/4 of an inch. There are no holes (yet) but I can see through the roof where the fasteners have lifted and feels like the aluminum has lifted and is starting to pull the rubber roof up along the edge.
Anyone see this before? Anyone know what I am talking about? Anyone have any thoughts?
I am wondering if this is considered structural for the 5 year warranty. I doubt it, but maybe...
To me, it looks like a fairly big job. Something that I'm not confident enough in taking on, but don't want to leave it at the dealer for the rest of the year to sit there and collect more mice.

I believe it should be. Need to call and see. Roof warranty is supposed to be 12 years is it not?

The warranty is for the roof material. Not sure that the aluminum lifting up will be covered.

The dealer might be able to repair that without having to replace the whole roof membrane. I'm not sure about that, but with it being along the edge of the roof, they might be able to pull it back and repair that radius metal and then reseat and reseal the roof membrane. You should definitely place a call to CR and see if they will cover the repair. It's worth a shot. Let us know how it turns out...

Well its been extremely busy around here this past couple weeks, but I did put a call into the dealer. He doesn't believe CR will cover it. My extended warranty doesn't cover it either. However, he doesn't feel that its a big issue. He suggested I just keep an eye on it. I'm not so sure I agree.
I will try and get a call into CR next week.

Matt, have you ever thought of checking with one of these outfits that actually install the rubber roof membrane on mobile homes?
I would think those guys could lift the edge of the membrane on your trailer and secure everything back down and put the membrane back down in a jiffy.

Other than an RV dealer I wouldn't know of any place around here. I really don't want to take it back to my selling dealer as I am sure you all have noticed from other posts.
My dealer was quite confident that he could peel it back and make the repair without damaging the rubber but said its a full day repair. In the event that the rubber gets damaged they would cut a piece out and patch a new one in. I'm not so sure how I feel about that either.

Try Googling it for your area. There has to be somebody up there that does that work on mobile homes. There is one right here local to us.

Our warranty is thru FCPP (First choice protection plan). I don't think our dealer uses them anymore as the service girl seemed unfamiliar with them.

I like Lloyds suggestion it is good to get away from the RV mentality. There are many providers of services that are applicable to RV repairs. You don't have to always be at the mercy of the RV dealer. They are usually both overbooked and overpriced and can sometimes hold your rig for far too long. This can be very true if you are traveling and need service.

I had the same issue last fall - CrossRoads approved the repairs. Another design issue with roof construction.

It was only happening on one side of the roof - roof was pulled back to perform the repairs.

Mine was in for the 2nd inspection required to maintain the warranty.

I just noticed mine is doing the same thing. Is this only covered under the 1 year warranty? If so, I guess I am out of luck.

Just spoke to Crossroads, While the roof warranty is longer and honored thru Alpha systems, it only includes the rubber roofing material. The structure underneath is part of the bumper to bumper 1 year Crossroads warranty. I will be taking it in for an estimate after my Acadia trip...

I like that the roofing done by Crossroads is not covered but the work provided by an outside service is, does not make sense to me.
