Roof warranty and sealing

I read on a thread that someone had a roof problem and warranty will not cover it because they did not have it sealed annually. Anyone with more information, please feel free to enlighten me. I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that you had to keep it clean and inspect it.

TIA

Jean

I read the same thing. If I remember right, you have to have the roof/camper inspected by your dealer every 6 mo. and they have to record it with CR.

Wow, I live an hour from my dealer. And I may not even be in this state every 6 months! I think I will shoot Andi Miles an email and see what she has to say. If every 6 months is the requirement, it would appear to be something that is intentionally set up to cause noncompliance on the part of the owner. And who is paying for all these check ups?

Not sure if this is current, but my 2007 manual stated an annual inspection was required not 6 mos. Check towards the back of your manual (I had the 2 +5 warranty).

The annual inspection only applies to the Crossroads warranty for the 2 + 5 warranty. After that the roof material comes into play. This only covers the cost of the material, not the labor, for a 10 or 12 year period. I am not aware of any inspection requirements during this period as the warranty only covers material defects. The 6 month inspection only applies to the new one year warrant. It was part of the new 12 point promise BS that the previous team pushed on people to justify the reduction in the warranty.

Probably a charge for the inspections and enduser will be responsible for it. This may depend on the dealer.

Fortunately, my dealer said he would inspect the roof for free when they do the free annual state inspection. Unfortunately, I have a February tag!!! But then again, don't have to worry about it when we are out on the road having fun.

Dale,
My dealer said he got a letter stating the 6 month inspection was no longer valid. It was a bad idea from the beginning and the dealer's weren't in on it from the beginning. I think that's part of the reason for the management changes if I'm not mistaken.

Travel well,
Jim

Jim,
Glad to know about the 6 month inspection because CR rep told me I needed to send it in. However, we were too busy having fun to get that done!!! My dealer told me the same thing as yours.
