Ryobi 2200 watt generator

Has anyone used the Ryobi generator from Home Depot?
I saw a man using one at a job site today and he loves it. He has two of them in parallel for his RV and he says he's never had a problem. The unit was very quiet, he said it comes with a 3 year warranty. Any thoughts?
And I know Honda is the best. But for the cost of one Honda you can get two of these with the parallel kit.

They have a 3100 Champion inverter generator that is about 400 cheaper than the two Ryobi's. It is also 58 db compared to 63 with longer run times. Something to think about.

My thoughts are -- 58 to 63 db is getting pretty loud for a campground.

Lloyd's right..heres an excerpt from the NPS.gov. I've heard most campgrounds use the federal regulation as guidance.

AUDIO DISTURBANCES
• Operating motorized equipment or machinery such as an electric generating plant, motor vehicle, motorized toy, musical instrument, or an audio device such as a radio or stereo, in a manner that exceeds a noise level of 60 decibels at 50 feet or, if below that level, makes noise which is unreasonable for the time and place, or impact on others is prohibited.

I have the Champion 75531i inverter. It is really quiet on the lowest setting, but I'd be peeved if the site next to me was running it all night.

I agree, I have the same Champion and it's not a quiet as I expected even running in eco mode. It's no honda but I'd rather keep the extra $1500 bucks in my pocket for the 2 weekends a year I use it.

I looked at the champion and it's seems good. Costco has it on sale for $699.00 with a rebate. They claim it will start a 15000 btu AC. That's all we really nd it to run. I want it for the nights that we just sleep at a rest stop or the once a year boondock.
Has anyone run a 15k AC with it?

I have been looking at this for the same purpose you have planned. Not sure what the real difference is other than color, but the yellow one says 3100 peak on it. The black one says 2800 on it but states 3100 peak. db level is comparable to the high dollar Honda and Yamaha. All my research says the 3100 will run a 13,500 just fine but not the 15,000. For that you may need to parallel two 2100 machines.

3100 Champion

I have the 3100 Champion, it handles the A/C, which is used very seldom. No issues with it. Quiet and relatively light - I can manhandle it into the bed of my truck. Looked at Yamaha and Honda - did a bunch of research - now after personal use - I recommend the Champion.
With respect to noise - yes it does make noise. But, in the campgrounds where we are crammed in, they generally come with power. If you dry camp - more often than not, you are not that close. However, there are exceptions to every camping circumstance!!!!

I've tested it with different combinations of running appliances. Only issue is running combinations of the microwave, AC , and water heater.

I pulled the trigger on the Champion. It should be here tomorrow. Costco says if I don't like it just to return it to my local store. Hopefully this weekend I can break it in and then I'll see how it powers the TT. Once I have time to run it a bit, I'll post a review.

Looking forward to your review. I want one for the same reasons as you. Db levels are supposedly on par with the more expensive "red and blue" competition. But for the money and the occasional boondock or rest area pit stop I can't help but think it would be perfect.

I researched for quite awhile before pulling the trigger on the 75531i. Most of the inexpensive inverters had reviews where small plastic pieces eventually broke and the carburetors get gummed up and eventually have issues starting.

I found that compared to the other "Chinese knockoff" inverters, parts are easy to get, they have a decent reputation, and have servicing dealers around the country. I called the fulfillment center before buying and they claim to hae 5,500 service centers across the country. Not that this helps most others out there, their fulfillment (service) center is 1/2 hour away!

I've used it on construction projects I volunteer for and it worked like a champ. On the quiet setting I'd put it up against the Honda and Yamaha.

The big plus for me is that at the time, it was the only inverter in that price range with the rv plug (30 amp).

I also paid under $650, so it was a no brainer.

Well here she is. I want to break her in today but it will have to wait. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time. So far it looks well built and solid.

She's a beauty alright. I like the all black units, mine is yellow. You had already pulled the trigger, but I later found they also sell a version with remote start..

I know you probably already know this, but don't forget they ship without oil. Also, you need to change the oil after 5 hours of break in. I switched to Synthetic oil after that.

I did see the one with the remote, but it was significantly more expensive. I couldn't justify the expense. I'm a nerd when it comes to this stuff, I read the entire book today. I will do the five hour break in tomorrow and synthetic is the way to go for sure.

I am curious how it works out for you. Not just will it power all your needs but what you think of the noise level. Good luck with it. I don't think I would spend the extra $400 + for the remote start either. Only plus side to that for me would be if I could start it from bed without having to get up!

Well the generator worked great. I added the oil, fuel and it started right up. Ran it on different loads for 5 hours and not one issue. Then yesterday I had it running the AC in my TT for an hour. So far I'm happy with it. Runs great and it's quiet. I did a little review in the mods and upgrade section. This July we will use it a lot more and I can give a better review.

A couple questions... I need one for an Alaskan trip.
Probably will boondocks so it will come in handy. Probably won't need it for the A/C
Generator vs inverter... Which do I buy? And why?

You want to buy an inverter. The power produced is pure. This is better for electronics. The voltage and frequency stay constant.
