Signing in

Why must I sign in every time I come to this site. I do not do this on my other forums. I don't do this on any other forum. Today I was not allowed to sign in 3 times, I kept gritting a invalid password.

cwit, I don't quite know how to answer your question. In my opinion you have to sign in to get into (your) account. That also protects your account from anyone else using it.
I sign in every time. Maybe Route 66 or somebody else will have a better answer.

As far as getting the message "invalid password" Your password is case sensitive, and if you hit the wrong key when typing it in, that is the message you will get.

If you check the "Remember Me" box when you sign in you shouldn't have to sign in the next time you log on to the forum.

You should only need to sign in once, then it (and your browser) will remember you. This is, of course, providing you are signing in on the same computer each time. If you are and still are having problems, it might be an issue with the settings in your browser. It could possibly be a cookie issue or some other security settings, particularly if you are using Internet Explorer (Firefox is much better). IE, often is very quirky and annoying.

You have to set up your browser to remember passwords, it's usually in the tool section of your browser.

I guess I like to have a little more security. That's why I have to sign in every time.
Checking the remember me box should only keep you signed in while you are here in case you are just sitting here inactive.

You don't actually have to set your browser to remember passwords.

Checking the "Remember Me" box when logging in should do it. That places a Crossroads cookie in your browser.

However, your cookies can become corrupted resulting in login problems or even staying logged in when changing pages within the forum.

If checking the "Remember Me" box doesn't help, try;

deleting the Crossroads cookies in your browser,

clearing your cache, close and reopen your browser.

Dirk, what are you running for a browser that it isn't necessary to set your browser to remember passwords?

As far as cookies, when you log out, the popup window states all cookies have been cleared??

The way I see it, if I don't tell my browser to remember passwords, it's not going to do it.
I'm running firefox.

Lloyd, I use Internet Explorer at home and never need to sign in on my home computer, keep it signed in - open the page - always signed in. On my iPad and iPhone I use Safari and they both keep me signed in as well. I go to the forum via bookmark on my home computer, on my Apple devices I just leave a page open in Safari. All my computers, portable devices are password protected for security just to get past the first screen so I don't worry about staying logged in. I never have to sign back into any of my devices when I come to the sight between the three places.
