Hit the send button to quick.

My problem is that the slide out's roof that is over the headboard of the bed has a crown in it causing the water to pond near the gasket and I assume seep under the gasket and into the bedroom.

The gasket's themselves look fine.

Any Thoughts!!!

Thanks, Jim

The easiest fix would probably be to keep the slideout side of the trailer maybe a half inch lower than the other side to see if it would drain. Shouldn't hurt anything.

Do you have slideout awnings? If not, they'll keep the water off.

When you bring the slide in and out, is there any indication that it is out of adjustment? The side wall and top should hit the gaskets pretty much at the same time and should "crush" fairly evenly. If the top hits first, the slide could be on an angle and need adjustment.

No slide out awnings yet. I have to learn my 6 point landing system better, to learn how to tilt the camper 1/2 in.
The slide out seems to go in and out properly.
The main issue is what looks to be that the underlayment/plywood that is under the TPO roof material is to wide and is bowed up in the middle.

No rain for the next week in Myrtle Beach so I will have some time to get this corrected.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will update when we get a fix.

I don't want to seem insensitive here...but how far are you from your dealer or have you contacted CR to see if you could get a mobile tech out to look at it. I'm assuming it's under warranty if it's a Washington. With what you've paid, I would get all I can out of my warrantywhile it's still in effect. JMHO.

Jim -- I don't know about you ,but I would not want to tilt my camper to one side or the other because there is a defect in manufacturing. If the slide roof has a bow in it, it was made wrong. That roof should be flat. I would either take it to the dealer and have them take that slide off the camper, and fix it, or take it back to the factory, if you don't feel the dealer is able to do that big of a job.

You have a new camper there, and an expensive one at that. I would not want it to get a half fix if it was mine. IMHO

Gotta agree with Tator447 and SleepyT here. If it is under warranty, I'd get it repaired under warranty. Even if it is slightly out of warranty, I would be awfully loud about it.

I think you have two issues - first is the apparent bow in your roof. The second, is that your slide leaking indicates the slide seals aren't working properly. If you have the in-wall slide system by Lippert (Schwintech) then that explains the issues, IMHO.

I emailed my CR customer service rep Yesterday. Will speak with him today.
I appreciate all of the input to this situation.
I also like to talk about theseproblems on the forum just incase someone eles is having the same issues.

One problem I have is that we FT and it would be very difficult to give my rig to a dealer for an extended period of time.

I do plan to have it correct under warrenty, but I hope they can do it with a mobile tech.??

I will keep you all posted. And thanks again for the input.

Jim

Jim -- When you talk to the rep for Crossroads I would tell him or her that you are a full timer and that you want them to put you up in a motel while your rig is being fixed. I think that would actually help to expedite the prosess. Your rig is a high dollar unit and one of Crossroads top of the line campers. I would think that they will jump through hoops to make this right for you. IMO I don't think a dealer has the capability to fix your problem. I beleive you are going to have to take it back to the factory. Also haveing it fixed at the factory would also speed up the process, especially if the slide has to be removed from the camper, which I think it will to fix that roof.

Good luck with what ever you decide. Please keep us all posted here on the forum.

I beleive that I am making progress with CR's rep. Very nice service rep. As of this evening he is working to get slide out covers installed on my rig for a temporary fix.
We are host at Myrtle Beach State Park and cannot be without our rig until June. Thats the only month that we have open in the near future.

It is so funny though, That as soon as I explained my situation to him, he knew exactly what I was talking about and said that the wood lamenent under the slideout roof covering was not attached to the framing properly.

I mean, if they know the issues may exsist why do they not have better QA to avoid the warrenty issues???

It's like they have a file in front of them that says Ok, this guy has this issue that we knew was going to accur so now after streessing me out all day lets get it fixed.

Ok, it's happy hour!! Heading to the Beach in the AM.

I'll keep updating.

Jim

Crossroads should have a QA person or persons to check these units before they leave the factory. If a defect is found they should be able to trace it back to whom ever installed that item. If that same person continues to have quality problems CR should take some kind of action to either help that person, or get rid of them, whatever the situation may warrant.

Too often in this country the old addage " build it as if it was yours" does not exsist anymore. This all assumeing that the worker has enough time TO DO A GOOD JOB.

So true.
We are gradually working through our issues with CR.
It is a shame though that they put customers through all of this stress.
I am a cardiac patient and I really do not need excess stress!!

What I really think about are the folks that are first time buyers. They really have a learning curve to get through.

When we did our PDI we even video taped it. That has come in handy already. There are always items/problems that arise as we are finding out in the months that follow.

But, all in all it does boils down to pride in workmenship. And pride at the Corporate level too, so that we could spend more time writing about our good times rather than issues to be repaired.

I'm telling you man it's a conspiracy. Elkhart Indiana is the RV building capital and itwas hithard in '09 when the economy tanked. In order to correct the unemployment problem, the government is rewarding the manufacturers for building sub-par RV's. When the buyer has a problem like this you have no choice but to return it to the factory, the factory in Elkart. This keeps that 2nd shift working.

***The above is only my attempt at humor. Please do not take it serious****

I think your last sentence reveals where the true problem lies. Every RV manufacturer is putting out mostly good rigs that just don't have good quality control at all. Many of the workers who build them are Amish, and pride in craftsmanship is something Amish workers are known for. If they are turning out crap, the root cause of the problem can probably be traced back to poor corporate policy. The bean counters are probably trying to do too much with too few.
