Slide room wiring flex strap broke LCI

I was closing up this past weekend and after one of the slide rooms came in, the wiring and hoses were hanging down towards the ground. When I looked underneath there is a black plastic belt type thing that holds the wires and hoses against the frame that was broke. I zip tied the wires and stuff up to the frame to keep them dragging on the ground. Not ideal as if I forget to cut the zip tie when I put the slide out it could pull the wires out, or forget to tie them back up, drag them on the road. Anyone else dealt with this? I found a replacement part on E-Trailer, called Lippert Components single Flex guard strap.

Had exactly the same thing happen on my 270BH. It broke off right at the frame rail at the last screw location. Thankfully I noticed it while we were stopping for the night and was able to zip tie it before it caused any damage.

The fix I used was simple. I bought a standard 59 cent stainless door hinge from Lowes. One side was attached to the trailer frame with self tapping screws. The other side I used short bolts and nuts and attached to what was left of the wiring support. Now the support has a place to pivot at the frame when the slide is being extended and retracted without putting any stress on the support.

While I can't take credit for the fix (I saw it somewhere else), it's so simple and relatively speaking, bulletproof, that I shake my head as to why it wasn't engineered like that in the first place. Sometimes I think RV's are engineered to fail....

Common problem. I also went with a hinge that I pop-riveted in place.

Common problem, yes. Do a search and you'll see the different ways people have fixed theirs. Mine broke in my first year of ownership and I used a plastic hinge. Duct tape to hold it up until the repair was made.

Common problem, and they continue to use brittle plastic for a function that requires flexibility.

I also did the hinge fix and has been working great for over a year now.

Both of mine broke at the same time. I drilled several holes down the length of the break on each side and used some stainless zip ties to create a flexible hinge. So far, so good.

Mine broke when a yr or two old. Drilled two holes on both sides of break, and connected with heavy zip ties..... still holding on.

Mine broke off at the frame. Haven't had a chance to fix it yet.
