Slide trouble-Canada

We have a 2008 Sunset Trail Travel trailer and in the fall, the slide wouldn't go out, so we sprayed the rails of the slide with lithium, and they worked really smooth. Now it stopped going out again, but spraying them, we got the slide out, but when it was coming back in, at about 1 foot away from totally being in, it bangs about 3 times, then slides in. Same thing when it goes out, bangs 3 times, then goes out smooth. Any thoughts on what could cause the bangs. Didn't do it in the fall.

One possibility is the power harness underneath. As it is folding in or opening up, it can get in a bind and then bang against the lower aluminum skirting. Mine did that til I adjusted it. But it only did that one way, not both.

Could also be several broken teeth on the gear, that would happen at the same 1 ft distance but much more likely when coming in. Another possibility is just worn gearing and just jumping several teeth.

You probably need to take it to an Rv repair shop.

Only lubricate with a silicone spray, dirt & debris stick to the lithium. I buy mine at Wal-Mart about $5 & use it on everything.

We had a previous Crossroads 5er and the motor actually twisted off. We started having problems with the slide coming in and out. When we sent the slide out it finally stopped and the only way to get it in was manually. Took it to have repaired and that when we found the motor had twisted off. Not sure if your problem just needs adjusted but I would take it in to be checked anyway. Ours was under warranty at the time or I would've pulled the bottom down and checked it myself.

First see if that is the problem, have one person operate the slide while second one tries to locate the noise. Stop at the problem spot and then take a closer look. On mine I had to move the attachment point under the slideout a few inches. For many of us the plastic wire loom also cracks where it folds and can be repaired with a door hinge. Search the forum for this repair.

This may not be the problem, just one possibility.
