I'm taking my new Dodge in to have the spray-in bedliner done this coming Tuesday. It came with plastic inserts that cover the top rail. Question: Should I remove them and have the bedliner sprayed on the top of the rail or should I leave them in place? It's one or the other, they can't be put back on if the bedliner is sprayed on the top rail. The person I spoke with does the Rhino Liner process and just happens to be a Dodge dealer. He indicated that, if it were him, he would leave the plastic inserts in place. I thought it might be better to remove them and have the bedliner sprayed on the top rail. So, I'm asking the REAL authorities!..............

My Silverado has the spray over the top rails but there was no factory plastic. Personally, I would leave the factory parts in place. My tailgate has a factory plastic cover on the top and it has worked just fine in conjunction with the bedliner that was sprayed on the balance of the tailgate.

So the new truck came in? Congratulations.

I would leave the plastic inserts on the top rail.

I have a Dodge also. You should leave the plastic trim rail on. If not, you will have holes left in the top, where the trim snaps on.

It's a white truck and we have snow everywhere. I don't know if you could see it if I took a picture!

You better put a flag on the antenna so you don't lose it.

Just my .02 worth. Spray on liners will fade a little over time. I seen both, black and color to match. I also have the black in mine. If you go over the rail, down the road you will see a difference in the finish vs the paint on your truck. I would always go under the rail with all spray-ins. I seen the outcomes with Rhino and others as well. I agree keep the plastic insert on.

I was into a local linex dealer asking about the colour matched spray in... My truck is red and when I asked his opinion on the red liner, his response was "Do you want a pink liner is 5 yrs?" With the UV rays the colour match will fade and... well.. won't match anymore. At least with the black liner if it fades a bit you probably won't have anything to compare it to notice a difference. Also, he wanted another 100 bucks to colour match. Better off with that 100 bucks in your pocket I think.

If any of you run a bumper pull and a cap on your bed, I have whats called a Bedrug in mine, instead of a spray in liner. The Bedrugs are washable, impervious to chemicals and much nicer to haul stuff with that could be damaged, scratched etc. They are held in with velcro and zip out for cleaning, etc.

drcook, I used to deliver alot of bedrugs. They are well worth the money. You can dump acid on them and nothing will happen. Put a deer on it, the blood will wash right off. They also last. I can't recall the price of them but i'm sure the bed rug is about $200.00 less then a spray in.

I have a 2011 f-350 and i have the Line-X spray-in liner. I added the uv protectant, hopefully to avoid the fading. It's black. I left the top rails and tailgate liner on.

Turned out pretty good.

I had the spray-in bed liner put in yesterday. I took everyone's advice and left the plastic rail caps in place. It turned out great! We are now ready to take delivery on our 5er. It should be ready in about 3 weeks.
