I am currently on vacation along the Oregon Coast (in the rain of course) and I have a leak at one of the corners of the Fantastic fan in the kitchen area. The water is coming out from under the ceiling "lip" and not from the fan area. Since it is raining, I have not been on the roof to check the sealant around the fan. I see 4 screws from the inside but am not sure if those need to be undone or not. Does anyone know how these fans are installed? I was hoping to maybe pull a cover off the inside and look into the ceiling area to ascertain the leak's exact location.

Id do just that Stan take the trim cover off from the inside if you canso you can see where it is leaking from. Then go outside and take a look on the roof and see if there is some sealant that is either not done right or maybe pulled up...etc.

The four screws you see on the inside simply hold the interior trim ring in place. Remove the screws and you can see the underside of the fan assembly. You should be able to see where water is running into the trailer and will help you identify the problem on the roof.
Once it stops raining get a tube of Dicor from the nearest RV dealer and liberally apply it all around the vent to try and seal the leak. From what I understand, you do not need to remove the old sealant.

Thanks guys. I bought some Dicor today and will let the roof dry a few days. I did go up there and found a 4" crack in the existing sealant so that is probably my issue. Do I need to remove the old sealant to make a permanent fix or just seal the crack?

I cleaned the roof a few weeks ago and the crack was not there. Strange. Thanks for the info.

The Dicor will fill it in, you do not have to remove the old sealant just make sure it is clean.
