Stench

Hi. We have a crossroads cruiser 2011 Canadian edition 32ck. I believe is what itís called. Long story short it stays plugged in over at my sons during the winter. We went to go to the trailer yesterday and could smell it before we open the door. We discovered that when we had a power outage back in December yes December the fridge had gone off and stayed off. The rotting meat smell seems to of gotten into Everything. We have been running an ionizer , A commercial one my son uses in his business, we have put coffee grounds into the freezer as well as baking soda. We want to go camping tomorrow and I am wondering if anyone has experiences with something like this how long it took to get the smell out. Itís been running for 24 hours now and will run for another 24 hours before we take the trailer

I'm honestly not sure you can get rid of it unless there is some recent miracle cure I don't know about. As far as it know you can only scrub it with everything you can think of, ozone it and hope that time heals all smells as well as all wounds. The smell tends to get into the plastic and any crevices in the unit. If you don't replace the fridge I think you may have to deal with it indefinitely. Hopefully someone else has a more hopeful solution.

You can try bamboo charcoal. Supposed to work real well

Do a google search for removing smell from fridge. Vinegar and soap along with baking soda worked for me. It took several cleanings.

I was going to suggest charcoal also...but that would be a long time sitting in a closed fridge...guess it is a lesson for everyone to not leave meat in a fridge....

Am I mistaken or did I see a post somewhere in this forum regarding using ammonia strategically placed in the camper for eliminating odors?

That was intended to be used for the formaldehyde smell.
I don't know what you would use to get rid of rotten meat smell that has been sitting there for who knows how long.

Rent an ozone machine. That gets cigarette smoke out of everything including auto interiors and that's a stench!!

A trucker friend said that when something went bad in the trailer, they would scatter coffee grounds around or place in containers throughout the trailer. Might be worth a try.
