I have an opportunity to buy some combination storage door locks at a very reasonable price. We all know the factory key lock is common to everyone. The question is whether or not any of you have had/experienced a break in of your storage compartments.

No break ins here, but I changed out my storage door locks almost immediately after we got the unit.

I didn't change them out with the normal keyed locks.
Like jeb stated--- there is only 3 combination's of those.

Are you talking about an actual combination lock with a tumbler? I have never had an issue with someone breaking into my storage areas or rig. However, I store the 5er at home not some storage area. The problem with combination locks to me would be the time to unlock it. Seems a bit of a hassle to work the combination each time I want to get into it. I would think new locks with a new key would be better.

I'll bet I can unlock my combination locked storage doors faster than you can (a) go inside and get the key because you never have the key with you when you need it, (b) fumble with it to determine which side goes up, and then turn the key once it gets a little corroded.

There are only three numbers to line up and, in reality, you only have to reset one of them.

No lock will keep someone who is determined to get in there but if you're gonna lock 'em, why not make it easy on yourself?

Hey Art, any hint as to where you are getting these at a "very reasonable price"? I've always wanted to replace mine with these locks but thought they were a little expensive.

I'm thinking that it might have been a clearance item as only the largest size was offered. I checked in Tweety's catalog for the exact item and found about four different sizes. Tweety's is asking $11.70 for the locks so I will hold off and measure first then order. Tweety's has opened a brick and mortar store in Boerne, TX, a northern suburb of San Antonio. I'll get them there and save the shipping.

I have the Combic am locks also and I love them. I put them also on my storage boxes I have on the front and rear of my trailer. It great not having to find the keys, and its great not having a bunch of keys on the key ring that has the trailer door key on it too.

The smallest size is the size that worked for me, I think it was 5/8" if im not mistaken.
