Stuck steps

I tried to loosen up the steps on my new Patriot with WD40, light grade oil and finally regular engine oil.(clean oil) Still too hard for my wife and even me, to open and close. Any ideas??

Unless they were bent somewhere I would think you have done about all you can. Not much to them. I hit ours with WD40 at the joints every 6 months or so and they move very easy. Do you have any other warranty issues that you need to take it back for and you could have the steps fixed while it is there? I know it would be a pain to take it in for just the steps.

Going on our first outing this week since we picked it up last October. Hope to run it thru it's paces to find any defects. Have just 2 items on order from CW service. Will talk to them about this when they email me about the final item they had to order.

Our steps were too hard to move also. Dealer replaced under warranty, We found this problem on our PDI. The back steps were stiff, but moveable untill I washed it. Then they became real hard to move. I sprayed the joints with break loose "penetrating oil" and now I can open them with 1 hand.

Same problem on my 2011 patriot 305SK. WD40 and opened and closed a few times. Move fine now, I think may have been some paint or coating buildup at the pivot points. Pressure wash and WD whenever I wash my rig. (Note I do not pressure wash the 5er, hand and soft bristle brush only)

Try PB blaster that remove rust and paint build up
