surge protection

We just bought a 50 Amp surge protector for our Cruiser CF325CKP. Last night I crawled under the trailer to see where the electrical wires went. The 50 Amp electrical plug is at the very back of this trailer. When I crawled under the trailer and had a look all I saw was that fat, 50 Amp wire go up under the enclosed under-body of the trailer and that is all I saw. I looked in the large storage area under the bedroom for some kind of a junction box etc. and didn't see any wiring of significance.



So here is the question: where am I supposed to mount this wonderful surge protector?

I mounted ours under the fridge in the heater compartment which is right next to the main breaker box which is where it is wired in. I can sit in the living area and see the lights on the Autoformer through the vent for the heater. I guess it kind of depends what you have around your breaker box and what kind of access you have to it.

Thanks for responding to my question. I looked at the area under the frig and there is no way to get to that area. However nearby I noticed a panel with four screws in it. So I took those screws out and found the converter. But there are only two wires going into the converter, a black and white wire. The surge protector has a place for four wires and the instructions show four wires: black, white, red and green.



Does anyone have any other ideas about where the surge protector should go in a CF325CKP? Or how could I find out where it should be placed?

In my Seville, there is a wooden panel on the back wall of the basement that opens towhere the electrical cable enters from the undercarriage. i cut the 50amp cable and mounted mine there. I ran the remote display back into the basement and mounted it on the back wall so that I can see it from outside.

On our rig, the land line enters at the rear on the street side. Directly inside of that, there is a panel with screws that covers a compartment. I took that off and there is a electric junction box in there. The land line goes into it. I wired in my surge guard into that box, and mounted it in that area and put a piece of Plexiglas over, instead of the panel that was there. That way I could see the surge guard. I know you have the 50 amp and mine is 30 amp, but maybe this will give you another idea to look at.

I am not sure about the Cruiser but on my PP the main power runs through the basement area so I tapped in there and mounted the power master there. Like the auto former it does both for you.

Greg does yours have a remote monitor? Maybe thats what the red/green are for.

Being 50 Amp the 4 wires are, hot for one side of the 120V, hot for the other side of the 120V, Neutral, Ground. All are necessary for a proper 50 Amp service.

Yesterday I got serious about finding where that huge power cord comes into the trailer. I found two covers in the very front storage area, same place the battery is. Took both of those covers off. It was full of wires and terminals, but not all four colors of wires were there.



So I guess I'll call the factory on Monday.



My manual says that the main power cord comes straight into the converter, but I found the converter and there is only a black and white wire hooked to it. The Red and Green wire seem to have disappeared.
