Technical Questions

Hello,

Having just purchased a used 2013 Slingshot 290, I'm new to the Crossroads Family Forum and for that matter Rvs. I read a number of posts regarding fading on the fiberglass front of our RV's and subsequent solution of repainting with a better UV resistant paint at the owners cost.
Our RV has the same problem with extreme fading as you get nearer to the roof. In addition, there is some warping of the fiberglass including 1 area at the top that almost looks like a small fist sized dent. As well, the front Slingshot decals are faded and even starting to tater around the edges. I realize that the warranty has expired, but this strikes me as being a factory defect. Any advise on how to proceed to get this corrected (if possible ) would be appreciated. Thanks.....ClayD

Hello and welcome. Congrats on the new to you slingshot. I'm concerned about the warping as it sounds like it could be delamination which is a sign of water intrusion. Pictures of the problems you are seeing would be helpful.

Don't think it's water intrusion. The front cap is made of fiberglass. It is not laminated to a wooden type substrate. It's just a distortion of the cap.

BTW welcome to the forum, good luck with your "new" rv.

I don't know if you will get any help from CR, but it doesn't hurt to try.
Why don't you call CR and explain the situation to them and see what they say. If they don't offer to help out on the repainting, then I would ask what their suggestion would be for you to fix it, and how you should go about getting it taken care of.

I have to agree with Lloyd. If I were you I would call CR. Even if they do not offer any financial help with your problem, maybe they can give you some advise on how to proceed, as far as what you would need to have done to fix your problem...

Dealer approached CR. No Help. Expensive fix with new panel, seals and labour required. Suspect it will happen again as I anticipate the curve at the top of the front panel adds stress that promotes warping on the sides
