I've looked on-line for tire covers, but all of them seem to have comments in the ratings that aren't very complimentary. The most common complaint is that the vinyl cracks after as little as one year. Are there any recommendations for a quality tire cover.
I do not have any of that white stuff but my covers are 5 years old and still keeping the sun off the tires. They are cracked a lot but still doing their job. I use them all the time while camping and in storage.

I got mine from Harbor freight tools. They are canvas and dont crack at all. They are going on 3 yrs old and no issues what so ever. They do only fit 15" tires and smaller though.
I got a pair from Harbor Freight and could not pull them onto the tires on my camper. I have 15" tires on my camper, so they do not fit all 15" tires. Had not trouble returning them.

Maybe you had gotten a different type than I have because my tires are 15" and they fit perfectly on mine. Here is the set that I had gotten.http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece...nch-93715.html I remember the HF here had 2 different types, maybe you had gotten the other type?
Found another solution to protect the tires. I wash them first with Mean Green, rinse and completely dry them. Then paint them with FLAT black Tremclad or Rustoleum paint and do the same every year. Just give a coat on a glass pane to realize how it blocks the sun's rays. I did it on my f-250 2004 when new and four years later compared it side to side to my friend's 2004 with same mileage and same time in the south sun. His tires had small cracks along the rims but mine was OK. I do this to my truck, car which has 15 years tires on and FW and even on my bicycle tires. The flat paint does not make a scale with time. I paint only the exterior side which is exposed to the sun and cracks with time.
I bought mine from RVWholesalers and are ADCO brand, they are $30 a pair, good quality. ADCO is a good manufacturer of RV Covers, they use good material on all their products. Check them out. RV Wholesalers has the best prices on ADCO products.
