Top seal of slide pulled away

Hi,

I've got a 2011 Slingshot 29BH. After washing and waxing, I checked all the seals and sealent around the trailer to see if any needed fixing. I noticed that the top vinyl seal of the slide has unstuck itself in places from the side of the fiberlass siding.

I want to fix this before I get any leaks, but I'm not sure if Ishoulduse a sealent (silicon?) or a glue (gorilla glue?) to bond the vinyl seal back to the side of the trailer. Looking for advice.....thnx!

You might want to check with your dealer as to what is used. Seems to me that what ever it is it needs to flexable over the long trem. Perhaps Dicor would work.

I have had a couple of areas where the top of the seal has come loose from the caulking they use to seal the edge to the fiberglas. I just use the RV caulking that I buy at C.W. to recaulk the windows. Have never had it come loose again. I think the Dicor lap sealant that is used on the roof would be to soft and runny.

I have used this on a couple of areas that separated from the side of the trailer and it appears to be holding OK after 8-9 months. CW has it for about $15.95 but you can find it cheaper if you search on-line.

I would try a warranty claim if your unit is still under warranty.

Sirsea, thats the caulking I was talking about, just couldn't remember the name. Senior moment. I agree, works great.

Once you get the seal repaired spray your slide seals with silicon and it will keep them from sticking to the slides when they open and pulling them away from the trailer.

I think this was a topic discussed in the past and there were mixed opinions on it. Some think its a warranty issue and some think its a maintenance issue. For 15 bucks for a bottle of proflex you should just take care of it yourself. I used 2 bottles on mine before I put it away for the season. Just be sure to clean off the old caulking first.

While technically it probably is a warranty issue and the dealer would reseal it at no charge,however my dealer is 65 miles away and there is a RV center 4 miles away. $15 sure outweighs the fuel charges plus I feel better doing it myself. (Dale, I totally understand Sr. moments, have quite a few of those myself)

Thnx for the excellent advice. My dealer is 50+ miles away, so I bought two tubes of the ProFlexRV sealent and will be doing this myself.
