I don't get why but I got better mileage in the higher elevations than at sea level.

Anyone else have this happen?

At 7000 feet the truck actually seemed to run better than at the 1000 feet where we live.

Heck, I even felt better!

Gas or Diesel? If it was gas you may have been getting better gas such as no ethanol. I find performance varies widely as I travel from Idaho to California with a gas car.

I am surprised at that. I read somewhere that you loose 10 HP for every 1000 ft of elevation. We were in the moutains this summer, but did not watch the gas milage. Maybe it is because we drive slower in the moutains.

I am not sure the OP said he had more power just the truck run better. Fuel quality could be a major factor on how it runs and the MPG. It can also affect the HP output.
