Towing w/water tank full?

Hi,
my first post,I have a 2013 Crossroads Z-1 291RL bought it last summer it's like new, have had no problems with it at all and love it,

My question is will the straps that hold the fresh water tank strong enough to be able to handle the weight of a full tank of water while traveling?

Thanks!

Mark gave you a couple good links for reference.
If you add some reinforcement under the tank, you should be OK.
I reinforced mine and there hasn't been any problems.

You might want to check the grey and black holding tanks while you're at it.

Anyone know if this dangerous design flaw has been fixed on the new Crossroads RVs?

We have one on order and this is pretty scary. Does anyone from the company follow this forum?

I think Crossroads is not interested in this forum. Twice I emailed the president to ask for a rep and to date none have been assigned. We're on our own.

Welcome to the forum. My question is why would you want to tow with the tank full? I always add water for about two minutes only in case we need to use the bathroom while on the road. When we get where we're going we will fill up if we're dry camping. However with our 2016 Cruiser it's the first camper we've ever owned that you have to open the dining room slide to access the bathroom. However we only have to open it about a couple of feet to access.

Not all campgrounds where a person dry camps has a water spigot.

Hi,
I don't camp in campgrounds,I use my camper mainly for hunting and fishing and I'm usually in the middle of nowhere,I do take 4- 6 gal.water jugs with and fill the tank when I get where I'm going it would just make it a little easier to already have the tank full, I'm definitely going to add some more supports to the tank.

Wow this is scary stuff...especially since I plan on dry camping for the 4th up in Benezette PA and our drive is about 4.5-5 hrs. Any word or insight if this problem extends across all brands...ie Sunset Trails?

I have always been more concerned with the black tanks.

My neighbor had one fail from cracks in the tank bottom.

When the tank is full the bottom is like an old oil can but the material the tank is made from does not do well when flexed.

The material the fresh water tank is made from is much more resilient.

I always empty my black tanks ASAP. If I am in back country I travel much slower and carefully until I can dump the black tanks.

just for a little more piece of mind I ran two ratchet straps across the bottom of fresh water tank on the inside of the two bands and hooked the ends to the frame, everything went well on my trip to where we will be camping this weekend.
This is just a temporary till I get time to rig something permanent.
