I am looking at the Tire Minder TPMS I have a couple of questions. My Truck has rubber valve stems with brass threads and 5er has aluminum valve stems.
1. Do you use the system on your TV and 5er or just the 5er?
2. Anyone have issues (corrosion or loss of signal) using the Brass TPMS sensors on Aluminum valve stems?
Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Your truck should have the system already on it from the factory. I believe it was required in 2008. My TPMS is only on the 4 RV wheels and I had steel stems installed so can't address the second question. I have not had any loss of signal issues. Works great.

Stan, I think that is only the SRW trucks that come from the factory with the system not the DRW trucks. Mine does not have it but the 3500 SRW does.

Mine is DRW and it did not come with the Factory TPMS.
I guess I will order 2 extra sensors as the Tire Minder I bought has 6 sensors.

Yes do the truck. I picked up a screw in a rear truck tire. My pressure pro alarmed. I was able to watch the pressure as I drove to the nearest tire repair shop thanks to my Garmin. I still had 45 psi when I got to the tire shop. The TPMS probably saved my tire and I did not have to stop and put on the spare.

Are you sure the fiver valve stems are aluminum? If you haven't got the tpms system yet, you might consider getting flow-thru sensors, much easier to keep the tires at the right pressure. And there are in-wheel, flow-thru sensors as well. That is what I have on my fiver. I am still using external sensors on the truck rear tires, but may change to in-wheel sensors next time I replace the truck tires.

They are stainless.... I have already purchased the Tire Minder... and they are not flow through. I just ordered 2 more sensors.

Interesting info on the DRW vs SRW. I stand corrected. Wonder why that is that way. I wrote a note to GM suggesting they expand the in-truck software to enable adding additional sensors to include a RV that is monitored by the vehicle system. Just makes sense to me but........

Stan, I wish the DRW had the system because that would keep me from having to buy four more sensors forthe rear wheels on my truck for my TPMS. Maybe the system they use will only allow for four wheels to be monitored.

I have an 06 Ford truck and have the sensors on all tires both the truck and the 5er. I have steel valve steamson all the tires too.

I have the TST 507 system. For my truck, I am using the internal sensors as the DRW and sport caps, make using the external sensors too difficult. For the trailer, I am using the external screw on caps. Had it about a year now and it has worked very well.

Yes, you need to replace them with full steel valve stems. Rubber valve stems quickly fail causing serious tire failure and potential RV damage, exactly the problems you are trying to avoid with a TPMS.

As I recall, the manual states to not use rubber valves with the caps.

Just got back from Parkerson's Tire, had all six valve stems replaced with all metal stems...
Going to install the Tire Tracker in the morning when the tires are cool. Headed to Fredericksburg next Thursday and temps are suppose to be in the high 90's.
