Trailer-Aid performance?
Has anyone here had success raising the wheel on their wide stance axle trailer using a Trailer-Aid? I purchased one (the taller, yellow one) from the dealer with assurances that it would work, and it doesn't get enough clearance. If using one, do you add a board underneath? do you still need to jack lift the axle of the wheel you are trying to lift, even if using the Trailer-Aid?
If the Trailer Aid won't work, it is still unclear to me what the best way to jack up the trailer is-jack up under the axle or frame?

Do not use the axle as the are to thin and could bend.

Andersen Rapid Jack is what I got. It has 1 inch higher than the Trailer aid Plus. I have not had a chance to use it but they said it will work. Andersen Rapid Jack Andersen Wheel Chocks AM3620

The manual that came with my trailer explicitly states do not jack on the axle or any of the suspension parts.
I have a 1/4 inch plate that is about 8 inches by 3 inches that I use between a 12 ton bottle jack and the frame.
I use the Lego leveling blocks under the jack to get the height I need to reach the frame.
Also I never jack the trailer unless it is hitched to my truck with parking brakes set on the truck.

I also use a 1/4 inch plate between the bottle jack and frame. Seems the safest method m

Guess I'll be getting a bottle jack.
It is interesting that no one has reported they have had one of the ramp systems to actually lift the tire. I think the design of the spread axle system prevents it.

Next time I get mine out I will try the rapid Jack to see if that will lift it.

They make a trailer aid plus for extended axles, however I have found the gorilla truck ramps work just as good and you can get a set from the automotive store cheaper

I don't think the Plus will work with the wide stance axles, it only provides an extra 1" lift for a total 5 1/2" lift.

Easiet way I found was to drive the good tire up on a couple of 2x6's that I use for levelling and using the bottle jack in the frame next to the flat tire. no need to watse money on something that doesn't work with wide axles. Have taken tires off and this works for me.

I had a bunch of extra wood laying around, I made my own ramp out of 2x10 lumber. It lifts my 2010 zinger no problem. I always leave my camper hooked up to my truck while it is on my ramp.

Jacking trailer
This is somewhat disturbing hearing about the quality of the axles. We have to go through annual state inspections in VA. When we had our previous Cougar, the dealer used a floor jack under the axle to lift the trailer and pull the drum off to inspect the brakes. I don't expect anything different this year as we bought the SRT from the dealer that inspected our Cougar.

It's your trailer. I would think you would be well within your rights to inform him to do it properly.

X2. If you replace tires make sure you inform them about the axels and keep an eye on things as the actual installer may not be advised.

On the Rockwood we had before our current Crossroads we had tires installed at Discount tire. When i saw them attempt to jack the axle i corrected them. Tech said 'we always do it that way'.
I told him why he shouldnt and he happily moved the jack, but I dont think he was convinced.
