Hello all. Its been awhile since I've been to this forum. I have a question that maybe everyone can chime in about. Does everyone get their trailers inspected every year? I haven't had mine inspected in a few years now and I was wondering what the legal aspect of it is. I'm pretty sure I should be doing it butits a project having to take it in to be inspected.Thanks.

Well the right thing to say is "You must get it inspected to keep the warranty" actually we have neverHAD it inspected but then I do all the work. I look the trailer over many times evey moth because we live in it full time and I fix what's needed right away. If you use it occasionally you should have it inspected because you might miss things that can be costly.

I got ours before the inspection was required. I think the big thing they look at is the roof. It has been said it could void your warranty BUT have not seen anything on the forum that a valid problem has not been fixed just because the inspection was not done. I do remember that a number of dealers when this was started did not know what CR was asking for them to do. I am sure now there is a check list and a few hundred buck of camping money out of your pocket.

I look my camper over each trip and on the roof three or four times a year to clean and inspect.
I am sure the inspection does not cover pulling the bottom cover and looking under there.

No one at the dealership mentioned anything to us about inspections.

I have had mine inspected every year so far. I do believe it is a bit of a scam and have had to show the dealership the warrantee book that says it is required and what to check. I also have had the fridge inspected which is also required according to the book. Ihave not heard of anyone being refused warrantee work because the rig had not been inspected.

i'm sorry i did'nt know you were talking about the warranty inspection. i was talking about a DMV safety inspection. i've never had a warranty inspection and my dealer and the factory have done repairs w/ no problem. i think its nonsense that you need to pay to keep your warranty valid.

I guess I should have been more clear in my post, sorry. I was talking about theDMV safety inspection. I didn't even know there was a warranty inspection required.I do all the work myself as it is much easierthat waythen hooking up and pulling it to the dealer for service. Does everyone get their rigs inspected with theDMV or do you just let it expire? Edited by: johnnnyo

i get mine safety inspected. i like to keep everything on the up and up. all they check is your lights and brakes. its not a big deal for me to hook up and go to my local gas station. if you are far from a local gas station then just make a appointment for a inspection for the next time your going camping. just leave your house30 minutes earlier. they can do it while you wait.

My DMV inspection is due each April, just about the time for me to get it ready for camping season.

I know many people take the chance that the police will not check the camper for the proper inspection sticker, but this is a yearly SAFETY inspection, which I found to be of value.

As well as DMV inspection, I have the dealer check the roof, exterior for any problems and the wheel bearings for proper lubrication.

My brother lives real close to Eddy's so it's easy for him to bring his trailer in for service but he has nothing but horror stories about them. I stopped in one day just to pick up some winterizeing antifreeze and they wanted to charge me $15 for 2 jugs.

ya must realize not every state requires a dmv inspection ohio just does random inspections on motorvehicles and does not require us to pay for an inspection and sticker each year. As for the warentee insp we intend to have them take care of all that stuff for the next 7 years bumper to bumper!

KY does not require a saftey inspection each year but there is a one time fire inspection. They check for LP detedtor, LP leaks, fire detector and the GFIC circut.

I get mine inspected every year, There is and inspection station not

to far from you in <st1lace w:st="on">Lindenhurst</st1lace>, Bills Vacation

trailers. They just make an appointment and it’s done. You can also take it to Trailer City in Hempstead. It is actually the law

that you get your trailer safety inspection in NY state, you need the inspection

to get your plate renewed.

Regarding the warranty inspection; CrossRoads has become very strict with warranty repair authorizations with regards to staying "in network" and within the minimum maintenance guidelines. Dealers are supposed to retain hard copy records of the maintenance and update CrossRoads' records guaranteeing the maintenance.

This tends to be a big deal when it comes to running gear, slide systems, and overall weather performance (seals and sealants).
