Triple Towing???
Georgia is listed as a state that does not allow triple towing. We had intended to purchase a cargo trailer in Douglas, Georgia on our way back north to Michigan and tow it behind the 5er. Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan allow triple towing so our only problem is Georgia. Does anyone know if the interstate highways are exempted from Georgia laws? Is there any way to get an exemption for one time, to get the cargo trailer home?
Thanks,
Gary

Gary, I'm sure you mean "double" towing. It might make a difference in Georgia if you are asking them about "triple" towing rather than double towing.
I would suggest you call their DOT and ask them

Lloyd, I went on-line at various state's websites and they all agree that triple refers to "tow vehicle+trailer+trailer." not "trailer+trailer+trailer." I'm hoping that I can work something out as I have a $500.00 deposit on a cargo trailer that I won't be able to tow back to Michigan!!!

Wonder if you could get a "one way tow" tag that should help solve this problem. Just an idea.

If you are unable to work something out I would park the 5th wheel in TN and go back and pick up the cargo trailer then you should be legal when you start out from TN. It will add a few days to your trip if you have the time.

I may be mistaken, but I think if you originate from where this is legal and stay on the interstate it is not a problem. If not legal from where your driving license is issued then you may have a problem?

Gary, would it be possible to talk the seller into dragging it over the state line for you? Or think about going around Georgia.

I'd call and check for sure. They say ignorance is no excuse and by checking you could save on a possible monetary fine and having to let your 2nd trailer somewhere in Georgia.

Copied this of Woodall's Rules of the Road. The other states specifically listed double or triple towing allowed or not. Most required it be a 5th wheel and second trailer had to be recreational, ie, boat, jet ski, ATV, etc. Georgia didn't. But there is a number to call and check.
GEORGIA: Maximum RV width 102 in.; maximum motorhome length 45 ft.; maximum trailer length not specified; maximum RV height 13.5 ft.; maximum length for two-vehicle combination 60 ft. Riding allowed in truck campers. Overnight parking in rest areas is not allowed. RV Safety Requirements: One mirror required on all RVs. Over 1,500 lbs.: trailer brakes and safety chain. More Information: Department of Transportation, Commissioner, 2 Capitol Sq., Atlanta GA 30334. Emergency number: (404) 656-5267, or *GSP on cellular phones.

I know in Florida it doesn't matter what your original state was you can't triple tow. What about taking the long way around and avoiding ga if other states around allow it?

You guys are both correct. Triples in the commercial world refers to the tow rig plus 3 trailers. In the non-commercial/rv world, triples refer to the tow vehicle plus two trailers.
Georgia does not allow rv triples and does not reciprocate with other states. Here in Cal, commercial triples aren't allowed, but rv triples are acceptable as long as the total length doesn't exceed 65'.
A class A license whether commercial or non-commercial might be required depending on the weight of the first tow trailer, over 10k bumper pull, 15k fifth wheel.
Here's a good website for reference.

Just curious what type of hitch have you added to the 2011 305 SKP? A little off topic but I think it is a fair question. Thanks
