V1N info

Just bought a 2005 Cruiser. My title says 2005 and info from dealer says 2005 but I found original owners registration and it says 2004. How can I tell what year by looking at V1N number. If this is a 2004 I guess I'll have to follow up with Secretary of State. Thanks.

This is a confusing topic for many. Best advice is to go by what is on your title. That is the official document from your state. It could be a mistake that it says 2004 or it was purchased in 2004 but a 2005 model. It's to your advantage that it says 2005 anyway.

Thanks, I am going to email Crossroads on Monday. When I googled Crossroads V1N decoding it says the 10th digit on the V1N indicates what year it was made. The 10th digit on my title is 5 so I am breathing easier. What had me spooked was when I saw the 2004 on previous owners registration I started looking at 2004 and 2005 28fb Cruisers and the color of the couch and wallpaper matches the 2004's not 2005's. Do you think they had 2 different color schemes that year?

When it comes to color schemes and cloth patterns anything goes. Mid year/end of year doesn't matter. For CR, the new models come out around April/May and will be classified as the next model year. I bought mine in May 2006 and it is a 2007 model year. There will be a build date on a small decal on the outside of the rig near the tank plumbing connections. Mine is just below the Electrical cord storage door.

It isn't at all unusual for an RV of one model year to have actually been manufactured in the previous calendar year. Just like 2015 cars and trucks will start hitting the showrooms this fall, and there are already many 2015 model year RVs on the lots right now. I bought a brand new 2010 Flagstaff TT in the spring of 2009.

Mine is a 2008 but I purchased it in 2007 so paper work has a 2007 date on it until the vin than it show 2008. Keep in mind that RV manufactures change decore's in the middle of the run might start out the same as the previous year than switch over, than they may run out of that stuff and switch to the next years

I understand buying new models in a year earlier my question is on the temp tag from original owner it states it as being a 2004 cruiser right next to the v1N. I think it's a typo back then. Everything else states it as 2005 including the 10th character on the V1N

If the VIN says it is a 2005, then it is a 2005. I agree with you that it sounds like it was just a typo on the temp tag. In the spring of 2011, I bought a new Blue Ridge 3705BH fiver that was built in March of 2011 and sold as a 2011 model year trailer. However, they had already started gearing up to build the 2012 model years when it was built, so I got a 2012 paint scheme that looked much nicer than the 2011. Trailer manufacturers aren't real predictable on their color schemes, lol.

Yep, when we bought this Cruiser from General RV in Michigan in the off season last fall to save some money we were thrilled by the condition of this trailer. It just had us worried at first when we saw the original owners registration that was left with the paperwork. The V1N on that registration and my new title and registration and emblem on Cruiser all match and I did a search of decoding V1N's and the 10th character states the year so I know it's a 2005. I just wanted to make sure before out 1st trip. Thanks
